Step-by-Step Instructional Process:!

The objective and standards are for the whole course. The lesson plan is for one of the sessions
held for one and a half hours. !

The first day!

Welcome the class and introduce the purpose for the class. Part of the Continuous School
Improvement Plan is to get parents more connected with the school and improve student
performance in the area of problem solving. Both of these areas can be improved by creating a
class website. You will learn numerous ways to connect parents to the classroom and engage
students in and out of the classroom. !

Introduce the learners to the course website including the introduction handout and the
objectives that will be covered in the course. !

Discuss with the learners what ideas they may currently have for creating and using a
classroom website, what their fears or concerns are, and what they are excited about.!

Open the Weebly website and show learners how to create an account, and login. Give time for
learners to complete the task and troubleshoot where necessary. !

Give the learners a brief tour and overview of the main components of the Weebly tools. Show
the introductory videos included from Weebly and allow time for learners to explore the sites
tools. !

Next, the learners will choose their theme and create the first page of their website. Review the
Privacy Policy Handout and demonstrate how to set a password and hide other pages from
navigation. Help the learners accomplish this task. Allow time for the learners to create their first
page and include necessary information. Circulate and provide assistance when needed. !

At the end of the session, ask if anyone would like to share their first page. This will give the
learners a chance to see other ideas for setting up a home page and may inspire others to
include or change things on their page. This will also be a good time for any last minute
questions. Learners will have a chance to make changes to their first page on their own time
before the next class meeting. !

Review the basic skill learned from todays lesson before dismissal. How to login, editing tools,
themes, and privacy policy highlights. !

Assessment/Evaluation Method:!
