Can you carry two hundred pounds? Glen
Adsit was a missionary in China for years. When
Communism came he was put under house arrest.
Then soldiers came and said You must return
to America You may take two hundred pounds
with you. What would you take? They had lived
in China for years. Accumulated a lot of things. So
his wife and two children pulled out the scales and
weighed things. Finally got it down to two hundred
pounds. Here is what happened next

The soldier came and asked? Ready to
leave? Yes Did you weigh everything? Yes
You weighed the children? No. We didnt
You must weigh the children! In one moment
treasured things like clothes, books, vases, and
paintings all became trash.

In America we have much for which to be
thankful. But all those things are nothing compared
to the people we love. This Thanksgiving is difficult
for some of you because a loved one is no longer
with you. It is ok to miss them, but remember to
thank God for the blessing they brought to your
life.

Does being a part of a small group really
matter? We put a lot of time and energy into
Sunday morning worship. Im glad we do. However
study after study shows a church is stronger
through small groups. We call our small groups
Sunday School. I believe every member should be
active in one. I hope you are.

While on vacation last Sunday I worshiped
at the greatest church I know. The people were
friendly, the music was worshipful, the message
was challenging. From beginning to end I was
blessed. Guess what church I was with! It was here
at Eastmont Baptist. For the first time since I can
remember, I sat on the same pew with my family
and just worshiped. It was a great feeling. My
daughter said I was undercover boss.

Thank you, Eastmont, for giving and walking with the

Lord in love. Through your generosity our church has given
nearly 600 shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child! Lets
continue to pray for their journey as they will be going into
the countries of Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African
Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo,
Dominica, India, Jamaica, Mali, Mauritius, South Sudan,
and Multiple Sensitive Countries. For those who still want
to pack a shoebox, you may bring them to the church; and
we will take them on Monday, Nov. 24th to the local drop
off. Then our last 2014 collection will go when we volunteer
at the Atlanta OCC Processing Center December 11-13.
