Based on the ELA CCSS Standards k~5 for Reading Literature, students should know Analyze how
two or more texts address similar themes or topics in order to build knowledge.

Introduce the two short stories of mythology. Ask the students if they ever
read that story before. The students will read short two-mythology text. The
story of Narcissus and Echo & The Alchemist.
Go over the review questions of story of Narcissus and Echo with the
students. Let students share their answers. Using Similar-Because-Reason,
Different-Because-Reason write down and discuss what the students think
and write down and example on the board.
Using Similar-Because-Reason, Different-Because-Reason students will
compare and contrast the two stories. Also ask students to write down which
story they liked better and why.
Criteria for Evaluating Students Products
Mastery at least 4 of the 4 components are accurately identified
