Saying what he can't understand and repeating what they have said To every wondered person Has many questions No matter how strange they are... Islam will answer them These words for those who are searching within themselves for answers to the many questions they have. Who is God ? Today, many people realize that all of the materialistic and secular progress which has taken place in society has produced a spiritual vacuum, which in turn has led to social, economic, political and psychological problems. For this reason, those who previously said, "Let us live this life and enjoy it," or "Hey! We don't want to know about God," are now again searching for the truth. They are raising questions similar to those raised above. This is because the innate nature of man recognizes what is good and bad, and what is true and false. It does not feel at ease when Allah's attributes are degraded, and also when humanlike qualities are associated with Him. It recognizes that there can be no more than One and Only True God, and thus One and Only true religion accepted by Him. Allah does not request some of the creation to worship Him alone, while ordering to worship Jesus u, Buddha, fire, light, Krishna, Joseph Smith, the Sun, the Moon, Khomeini, Rama, temples, Prophets, Eliajah, Farakhan, a cross, a tree, a triangle, saints, priests, monks, or anything else.
Everything besides Allah is a creation! They are imperfect. They are in need of others, but Allah is Self-Sufficient. He is The First, having nothing before Him, and The Last, having nothing after Him. To Him is the Final Return. He does not beget nor is He begotten. No human gave Him the name Allah; rather, He named Himself with this name. It means 'the True and Only Deity Who Deserves to Be Worshipped'. He is not a nationalistic or a tribal god. He is the Creator of everything. He, therefore, deserves that we submit to Him Alone, and He called this type of submission 'Islam'. Confusion, though, came on the part of man when people started to worship creation, whether animate or inanimate, besides Allah! In the final Revealed Message to mankind, the Qur'an, Allah clearly explains the purpose for man's presence in this world. Outwardly and inwardly, man is called to live in accordance with Allah's way. This is the meaning of worship in Islam, and it is the purpose for which we all have been created. There are those, though, who accept Allah as the Only True God who deserves to be worshipped, but do not live in accordance with Allah's commandments. Their practices are deviated from Islam. They are not the criteria upon which Islam should be judged. Islam is perfect but people are not. We are called to search into Islam.
CONGRATULATING AN ATHEIST YES …. you are an atheist Because you agree with the first part of the Shahada i.e. the Islamic Creed, ‘La ilaaha’ - meaning ‘there is no God’. So half my job is already done; now the only part left is ‘il lallah’ i.e. ‘BUT ALLAH’ which I shall do Insha Allah.
With others (who are not atheists) I have to first remove from their minds the wrong concept of God they may have and then put the correct concept of one true God. LOGICAL CONCEPT OF GOD My first question to the atheist will be: "What is the definition of God?" For a person to say there is no God, you should know what is the meaning of God. If I hold a book and say that ‘this is a pen’, for the opposite person to say, ‘it is not a pen’, he should know what is the definition of a pen, even if he does not know nor is able to recognize or identify the object I am holding in my hand. For him to say this is not a pen, he should at least know what a pen means. Similarly for an atheist to say ‘there is no God’, he should at least know the concept of God. His concept of God would be derived from the surroundings in which he lives. The god that a large number of people worship has got human qualities - therefore he does not believe in such a god. Similarly a Muslim too does not and should not believe in such false gods. If a non-Muslim believes that Islam is a merciless religion with something to do with terrorism; a religion which does not give rights to women; a religion which contradicts science; in his limited sense that non-Muslim is correct to reject such Islam.
The problem is he has a wrong picture of Islam. Even I reject such a false picture of Islam, but at the same time, it becomes my duty as a Muslim to present the correct picture of Islam to that non-Muslim i.e. Islam is a merciful religion, it gives equal rights to the women, it is not incompatible with logic, reason and science; if I present the correct facts about Islam, that non-Muslim may Inshallah accept Islam.
Similarly the atheist rejects the false gods and the duty of every Muslim is to present the correct concept of God which he shall Inshallah not refuse. QUR’AN AND MODERN SCIENCE The methods of proving the existence of God with usage of the material provided in the ‘Concept of God in Islam’ to an atheist may satisfy some but not all. Many atheists demand a scientific proof for the existence of God. I agree that today is the age of science and technology. Let us use scientific knowledge to kill two birds with one stone, i.e. to prove the existence of God and simultaneously prove that the Qur’an is a revelation of God. If a new object or a machine, which no one in the world has ever seen or heard of before, is shown to an atheist or any person and then a question is asked, " Who is the first person who will be able to provide details of the mechanism of this unknown object?
After little bit of thinking, he will reply, ‘the creator of that object.’ Some may say ‘the producer’ while others may say ‘the manufacturer.’ What ever answer the person gives, keep it in your mind, the answer will always be either the creator, the producer, the manufacturer or some what of the same meaning, i.e. the person who has made it or created it. Don’t grapple with words, whatever answer you give, the meaning will be same, therefore accept it. THEORY OF PROBABILITY In mathematics there is a theory known as ‘Theory of Probability’. If you have two options, out of which one is right, and one is wrong, the chances that you will chose the right one is half, i.e. one out of the two will be correct. You have 50% chances of being correct.
Similarly if you toss a coin the chances that your guess will be correct is 50% (1 out of 2) i.e. 1/2. If you toss a coin the second time, the chances that you will be correct in the second toss is again 50% i.e. half. But the chances that you will be correct in both the tosses is half multiplied by half (1/2 x 1/2) which is equal to 1/4 i.e. 50% of 50% which is equal to 25%. If you toss a coin the third time, chances that you will be correct all three times is (1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2) that is 1/8 or 50% of 50% of 50% that is 12½%. A dice has got six sides. If you throw a dice and guess any number between 1 to 6, the chances that your guess will be correct is 1/6. If you throw the dice the second time, the chances that your guess will be correct in both the throws is (1/6 x 1/6) which is equal to 1/36. If you throw the dice the third time, the chances that all your three guesses are correct is (1/6 x 1/6 x 1/6) is equal to 1/216 that is less than 0.5 %. Let us apply this theory of probability to the Qur’an, and assume that a person has guessed all the information that is mentioned in the Qur’an which was unknown at that time. Let us discuss the probability of all the guesses being simultaneously correct. At the time when the Qur’an was revealed, people thought the world was flat, there are several other options for the shape of the earth. It could be triangular, it could be quadrangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, spherical, etc. Lets assume there are about 30 different options for the shape of the earth. The Qur’an rightly says it is spherical, if it was a guess the chances of the guess being correct is 1/30. The light of the moon can be its own light or a reflected light. The Qur’an rightly says it is a reflected light. If it is a guess, the chances that it will be correct is 1/2 and the probability that both the guesses i.e the earth is spherical and the light of the moon is reflected light is 1/30 x 1/2 = 1/60.
Further, the Qur’an also mentions every living thing is made of water. Every living thing can be made up of either wood, stone, copper, aluminum, steel, silver, gold, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil, water, cement, concrete, etc. The options are say about 10,000. The Qur’an rightly says that everything is made up of water. If it is a guess, the chances that it will be correct is 1/10,000 and the probability of all the three guesses i.e. the earth is spherical, light of moon is reflected light and everything is created from water being correct is 1/30 x 1/2 x 1/10,000 = 1/60,000 which is equal to about .0017%. The Qur’an speaks about hundreds of things that were not known to men at the time of its revelation. Only in three options the result is . 0017%. I leave it up to you, to work out the probability if all the hundreds of the unknown facts were guesses, the chances of all of them being correct guesses simultaneously and there being not a single wrong guess. It is beyond human capacity to make all correct guesses without a single mistake, which itself is sufficient to prove to a logical person that the origin of the Qur’an is Divine and It is not written by Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as some of people think.
CREATOR IS THE AUTHOR OF THE QUR’AN The only logical answer to the question as to who could have mentioned all these scientific facts 1400 years ago before they were discovered, is exactly the same answer initially given by the atheist or any person, to the question who will be the first person who will be able to tell the mechanism of the unknown object. It is the ‘CREATOR’, the producer, the Manufacturer of the whole universe and its contents. In the English language He is ‘God’, or more appropriate in the Arabic language, ‘ALLAH’. QUR’AN IS A BOOK OF SIGNS AND NOT SCIENCE Let me remind you that the Qur’an is not a book of Science, ‘S-C-IE-N-C-E’ but a book of Signs ‘S-I-G-N-S’ i.e. a book of (ayaats). The Qur’an contains more than 6,000 (ayaats), i.e. ‘signs’, out of which more than a thousand speak about Science. I am not trying to prove that the Qur’an is the word of God using scientific knowledge as a yardstick because any yardstick is supposed to be more superior than what is being checked or verified. For us Muslims the Qur’an is the (Furqan) i.e. criteria to judge right from wrong and the ultimate yardstick which is more superior to scientific knowledge. But for an educated man who is an atheist, scientific knowledge is the ultimate test which he believes in. We do know that science many times takes ‘U’ turns, therefore I have restricted the examples only to scientific facts which have sufficient proof and evidence and not scientific theories based on assumptions. Using the ultimate yardstick of the atheist, I am trying to prove to him that the Qur’an is the word of God and it contains the scientific knowledge which is his yardstick which was discovered recently, while the Qur’an was revealed 1400 year ago.
At the end of the discussion, we both come to the same conclusion that God though superior to science, is not incompatible with it. SCIENCE IS ELIMINATING MODELS OF GOD BUT NOT GOD Francis Bacon, the famous philosopher, has rightly said that a little knowledge of science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a believer in God. Scientists today are eliminating models of God, but they are not eliminating God. If you translate this into Arabic, it is La illaha illal la, There is no god, (god with a small ‘g’ that is fake god) but God (with a capital ‘G’). "Soon We will show them our signs in the (farthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things?" [Al-Quran verse 41:53]
THREE QUESTIONS FROM AN ATHEIST TO A SCHOLAR The atheist: Who are you? Can you answer my Questions? Scholar: I am one of Allah’s (SWT) slaves and Insha Allah (God Willing), I will be able to answer your Questions. Atheist: Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions. Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah (Subhanahu Wata’ala). Atheist Says: I have 3 Questions: Question 1 Does God Exist? If so, show me his shape.
Question 2 What is Taqdeer (Fate)? Question 3 If shaitan (Devil) was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since shaitan & the hell were created from Fire. Did God Think of this far? Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the atheist’s face very hard. Atheist (Felt Pain): why do you get angry at me? Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your questions. Atheist: I really don’t understand. Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you? Atheist: Of course, I felt pain Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists? Atheist: Yes. Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain! Atheist: I cannot. Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God’s existence without being able to see His shape…Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me? Atheist: No. Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me today? Atheist: No. Scholar: That is Taqdeer (fate) my second answer…my hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?
Atheist: It is created from flesh. Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from? Atheist: Flesh. Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you? Atheist: In pain. Scholar: That’s it. This is my third answer, even though Shaitan (Devil) and also the hell were created from the fire, if Allah wants, the hell will become a very painful place for Shaitan
ALLAH DOES EXIST… This is one of the best explanations of why Allah allows pain and suffering that I have seen: A man went to a Barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects when they eventually touched on the subject of Allah The Barber said: I don’t believe that Allah Exists. Why do you say that? Asked the customer. Well, you just have to go out in the street & realize that Allah doesn’t exist. Tell me if Allah Exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned Children? If Allah existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving Allah who would allow all of these things. The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The Barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and untrimmed beard, he looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again and said to the barber: You know what? Barbers do not exist. How can you say that? Asked the surprised Barber. I am here, and I am a Barber, & I just worked on you!
No! The customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beard, like that man outside. Ah, But Barbers do exist! That’s what happens when people do not come to me.” Exactly, affirmed the customer. “that’s the Point! Allah, too, exist! That’s what happens when people do not go to HIM and don’t look to HIM for Help. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the World”. With regard to proof of the existence of Allah, it is obvious to anyone who ponders the matter. When we ponder the matter, we find out that it is divided into three categories: instinctive evidence, tangible evidence and shar'i (religious) evidence. 1 - Instinctive evidence: The instinctive evidence that God exists is the strongest of all evidence for those who are not led astray by the devils. Hence Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "So set you (O Muhammad) your face towards the religion (of pure Islamic Monotheism) Haneef (worship none but Allah Alone). Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism) with which He has created mankind" [al-Room 30:30] Man's sound nature (fitrah) testifies to the existence of God and man cannot turn away from that unless the devils mislead him; whoever is misled by the devils may not recognize this evidence." Every person feels inside himself that he has a Lord and Creator, and he feels that he is in need of Him; if some major calamity befalls him he turns his hands, eyes and heart towards the heavens, seeking help from his Lord.
2 - Tangible evidence:
This refers to the things that exist in this universe; we see around us things that exist, such as trees, rocks, mankind, the earth, the heavens, seas, rivers… If it is asked: these things are so many - who created them and is taking care of them? The answer is that if these things came into being by accident, spontaneously and with no cause, then there is no one who knows how they were created, and that is one possibility. But there is another possibility, which is that these things created themselves and are taking care of themselves. And there is a third possibility, which is that there is Someone Who created them. When we look at these three possibilities, we find that the first and the second are impossible. If we reject the first and the second, then the third must be the one which is correct, which is that these things have a Creator who created them, and that Creator is Allah. This is what is stated in the Qur'aan, where Allah says: "Were they created by nothing? Or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief" [al-Toor 52:35] Moreover, when were these mighty things created? For all these years, who is it that has decreed that they should remain in this world and has granted them the means of abiding? The answer is, it is Allah who has given to each thing that which is suited to it and will guarantee its survival. Do you not see the beautiful green plants; when Allah cuts off their water supply, can they live? No, rather they become dry stalks. If you ponder all things you will find that they are dependent upon Allah. Were it not for Allah, nothing would remain.
And Allah has created everything to do that for which it is suited. So camels, for example, are for riding. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Do they not see that We have created for them of what Our Hands have created, the cattle, so that they are their owners. And We have subdued them unto them so that some of them they have for riding and some they eat" [Yaa-Seen 36:71-72] Look at the camel and how Allah has created it strong, with a strong back, so that it can be used for riding and it is able to endure harsh conditions which other animals cannot bear. If you look at other creatures you will find that they are suited to the purposes for which they were created. Glory be to Allah. Examples of tangible evidence include the following: When calamities befall people this points to the existence of the Creator, for example, when they call upon Allah and Allah responds to their prayer; this points to the existence of Allah. "When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed for rain, he said, 'Allaahumma aghithnaa, Allaahumma aghithnaa (O Allah, send us rain, O Allah, send us rain).' Then a cloud came and it started to rain before he had even come down from (minbar) a place which Prophet gave speechs upon it. This points to the existence of the Creator. 3 - Shar'i (religious) evidence: All divinely-revealed laws point to existence of Allah. The scholar Ibn 'Uthaymeen said: "All the divinely-revealed laws point to the existence of the Creator and to the perfect nature of His knowledge, wisdom and mercy, because these laws must have been prescribed by someone, and that Lawgiver is Allah."
With regard to your question: why did Allah create us? The answer is: so that we would worship Him, thank Him and remember Him, and do that which He has commanded us. You know that among mankind there are (kaafirs) non-Muslims and there are Muslims. This is because Allah wants to test His slaves as to whether they will worship Him or worship others. That is after Allah has showed the way to everyone. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Who has created death and life that He may test you which of you is best in deed" [al-Mulk 67:2] "And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)" [al-Dhaariyaat 51:56]
Who created the Creator? This question is inherently false and self-contradictory. If we were to say for the sake of argument that someone created Allah (GOD), then they would ask you, Who created the creator of the creator? Then, who created the creator of the creator of the creator?! And so on, ad infinitum. This is irrational and impossible. All of creation goes back to the Creator Who created all things. No one created Him; He created everything other than Himself. This is what makes sense and is logical. This creator is Allah (GOD), may He be glorified and exalted.
According to the Quran, Allah tells us that He is the only creator and sustainer of all that exists and that nothing and no one exists alongside Him, nor does He have any partners. He tells us that He is not created, nor is He like His creation in anyway. He calls Himself by a number of names and three of them are: The First - (Al-Awal) The Last - (Al Akhir) The Eternal, who is sought after by His creation, while He has no need from them at all. (As-Samad) He always has existed and He never was created, as He is not like His creation, nor similar to it, in any way. So the question is: Who created the Creator? The question is originally wrong why? Because human has mentality cognitions these mentality cognitions were gathered due to what? Due to imaginations and life experiences that were gained through our senses and formed images inside our minds, so if we face any new meaning we simply measure it according to these images and understandings in our minds for example: when we say (Allah The Most Merciful) we have a meaning in our minds for mercy we gained through life experiences, so that we can understand what it (mercy) is like. In Quran, Allah says: " nothing like a likeness of Him; and He is the Hearing, the Seeing " This obviously shows that we can't compare anything to Allah we hear and see justice in life, then we hear that Allah is Just, so the verse shows us that there is absolute Justice that belongs to Allah and there is relative justice in life
But when he is told that Allah is The FIRST (AL-AWWAL( and The LAST (AL-AKHIR( He can't visualize something has no beginning and nothing before it, because he has no understanding of these attributes in his mind. So he becomes confused. We tell him a rule: (absence of visualization does not mean there is non-existence) Where dose the mixing in this situation happen? There is a mix between visualization and rationality. He couldn't imagine something has no beginning (Allah) so he stopped thinking (using his brain( and rejected rationality. We read that the waves causing the violet color happens under speed of 60000 waves per inch. No matter how much you closed your eyes and worked your mind, you still can't imagine it. yet you know (rationalize) it through calculation and studied facts Another example: The speed of sound frequency reaches 500000 per second. You can't imagine it but you know (rationalize) it through reason and logic.
The issue is one
You an atheist … we all believe in one thing. Existing and has no beginning, He is not in need of anyone. His Existing comes from Himself. You choose it as material, and I choose Him as my God, my Lord He is Allah. If you want to insult someone who believe in God Who has no beginning, you are insulting from yourself because you believe in material has no beginning. If you would say to me "but we feel, touch and see the material!!!"
We don't have to see an artist to recognize a painting, correct? So, if we see paintings without seeing artists painting them, in the same way, we can believe that Allah created everything without having to see Him (or touch, or hear, etc( If I follow your logic, I would say: I don't see your mind, so you admit that you don't have a mind. If you entered your office then found the book on the table and your brother sitting on a chair, then you went out and when you came back you found the book inside the drawer...and your brother sitting on the floor" So you ask: "Who transferred the book in the drawer?" And you don't ask: "Who transferred your brother to the floor??" The first question: Is CORRECT, because the book has no will or ability, it needs somebody to transfer it, it cannot move by itself therefore the question is logical and realistic. However when you ask: "Who transferred your brother to the floor?" The question is WRONG, because your brother has strength and choice and will or ability to enable him to transfer by himself. Let us apply this to our conversation When we see the universe in need of a creator, we asked: "Who created (or made) the universe?" And when we see a CREATOR who has no need... we don't ask... because the question is originally wrong....
At the end, I hope you think logically even in one second in your life. Who are you ? and why you are created?
