Speech #4
Comm 1020
Double Standard
Race is a touchy subject in America. If you are of white descent, meaning Italian,
Greek, Swedish you are racist if you dislike a black person. The race card is getting
really old when it comes to white people being accused of being racist. Most of us
dont have slaver ancestors. Immigrant families came here after slavery was going
on. The Slavery was a terrible terrible thing but its done. Lets all try to move on.

If ABC had a new show out called whiteish about an all white family who hate that
blacks stereotype them? Does this seem inappropriate and extremely racist? Would
the Riots ever stop if this happened, well it has sort of speaking.
Donald trump tweeted about this same scenario. The sit com is called blackish.
"How is ABC Television allowed to have a show entitled Blackish?" he tweeted.
"Can you imagine the furor of a show, "Whiteish"! Racism at highest level?"
The Media has so much control over public opinion and what they choose to
error. The mass media likes to get people upset and promote theories abut race
that have not been proven. This can cause mass rioting. The consequence of

racially biased coverage is to maintain racist stereotypes in popular culture and

to lead us towards an increasingly dysfunctional society. What the media refuse
to acknowledge is the fact that between 1967 and 1990, the percentage of black
families with incomes of a least $50,000 more than doubled from 7 to 15
percent. (Balkaran)
For example
Picture A white known gang member who was high and just purchased
ingredients to make a drug cocktail drink containing Robitussin, called purple
lean who was walking home from a gas station with other criminal thug friends. I
would feel extremely uncomfortable if I came upon these boys. The unarmed boy
was shot and killed by an African American good citizen who was part of a
neighborhood watch program. The Neighborhood watchman who felt like his life
was in danger.
Now imagine this same situation being a black boy and a latino neighborhood
watch man. The Tryvon Martin vs George Zimmerman case, immediately got
accuses of being all about race it was covered nationally.
Do the names Channon Christian or Chris Newsom mean anything to you?

Who are they?

Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian were a couple both in their early
202 and both students at the University of Tennessee. They were newly a couple
and very much in love. On Jan 6, 2007 they went to dinner and then were
headed over to a friends house. They were found the next day Christophers
burnt corpse was found by the railroads station and Channons four runner was
found the next day. Channon was know where to be found.
Later that week the police were lead to a rental house where they found
Channons body in a trash bag. This couple endured the most haness and horrific
crime Knoxeville Tennesse has ever seen.
They were Carjacked
Christopher was raped over and over they found semen on his anus and he was
also sodomized with an unknown object.
After several nightmarish hours Christopher was dragged to a close by railroad
station where he was shot execution style and then doused with gasoline and
burned.
Channon Christian the bright young students fait was worse. She was raped and
raped in every possible sickening way imaginable. Oh it didnt stop there she had
bleach poured down her throat and bleach in her wounds and private areas. She
was alive that whole time. She later was shoved in a trash bag and died slowly of
suffocation.
Would It matter what race the victims were? If the killers were white and the
victims were black the whole world would know the names of Channon Christian
and Christopher Newsom.
The truth is The killers were black and the couple were both white
4 men and 1 woman. All with criminal records and absolutely no excuse for
torturing a young couple.
All Sharpton didnt go rally and protest for hate and injustice in Knoxville
demanding justice and equality? I wonder why, I find this case a lot more heinous
than some that AL Sharpton speaks at!!!!
Let me make clear that if an act of racism did occur the perpetrator should be
punished to the full extent. We as Americans need to wait to form an opinion
until all the facts come out.
Let me conclude by quoting what a wise man once said, Injustice

anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Martin Luther

King
