Student Engagement: Strong indicators of engaged learning includes standard-based content, challenging learning goals, authentic and multidisciplinary learning tasks.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This lesson idea would be a LoTi Level 4, Integration. The students use technology and the
technology is central to classroom instruction such as homework. Students are addressing high levels of Blooms Taxonomy and the lesson is student
directed. There is a strong sense of real world application through this assignment.
Importance of technology: Using a website-creation tool is critical to this project because students are responsible for answering the question on the
classroom blog. Each student is able to provide a response which brings in a variety of data collected. Though the project could be completed without
the use of technology, much may be lost or limited through the experience.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Some possible issues surrounding Internet safety and student privacy that could arise while implementing this
learning experience are slim though could happen. The question would be posted on the classroom blog. At the beginning of the year, teachers may
inform parents of the importance of the classroom blog and may suggest bookmarking the site allowing easy access, preventing risks and alleviating
fears all following Internet safety and acceptable use policies.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. In this activity, I am using the classroom blog as a homework tool. As a teacher, I am asking
my students to response to three questions posted on the classroom blog as a homework activity. I hope I have learned how to provide an age
appropriate activity to be competed outside of the classroom with the guidance of the students parent or guardian. I hope my students will learn how
to compete an activity on their own time, teaching them to ask for help if needed.
