Midterm Reflection
Up to this point, I must say I have truly enjoyed the class. I enjoy what we write about and how I
can be an individual though I am taking the same class as my fellow classmates. Now we have reached
the halfway point and I have to be assessed. I am writing this reflection to defend my case on why I
deserve the grade that I do at the time of midterm.
When it comes to my daybook and all of its contents, I believe at this point it deserves a B. The
content in my daybook is very well thought out and constructed on the paper but my time management
skills are still lacking. I tend to procrastinate at times which can throw me off my game when it comes to
getting all of my assignments for all classes done at the initial date/time I wanted them to be. The time
doesnt affect the thought and work I put into my daybook but it does affect how I feel about it upon
completion. Hence, I cannot make myself say that I deserve an A if I know there are some areas that I
need to work on in this area you are going analyze.
For my participation in the class, I do believe that I deserve an A. Since I find an appeal and an
outlet in this class to explore and open up to people who I dont know that much, I want to answer
questions and I want to question answers. I want to get everyone thinking and be the one to begin a
discussion in the class that we converse about during the duration of the lecture and I do that. You
wanted and enjoy having a student or students that arent afraid to raise their hand and do respond to

the things you say and thats what you got: me! I am attentive every day, have never been late to class,
and have come in prepared with supplies ready before 3:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I feel with my literacy, I am furthering my knowledge and gaining a lot of valuable information
and skills necessary to make me become a better writer. I have collected and read a lot of literacies
because this class has us reading a lot of texts from different people and different excerpts of papers,
books, etc. Id say that one of the main issues I am running into to when it comes to my literacy is the
lack of enthusiasm. Since it is reading from a text and not like in class where we have discussions or
doing a writing assignment along with a specified video, I become very un-intrigued with it because I see
it as boring. I have become accustomed to the fun, open vibe of the class lectures that when I have to do
a literacy assignment like reading Jerry K. Walshs interview, I start to feel distant from what I need to be
doing. I need to snap back into reality and realize that it is a writing class so I will have out-of-class
writing assignments. How can I make outside assignments/writing fun? When you were in your college
writing class, what was it like? I would for you to answer these questions so I can have some insight of
your experience and what I can do to make mine superb.
Due to this being the first half of the semester, I have to give myself an overall grade of a B+. I
feel have met my expectations of you and what I can do but I still have much more to learn. I am hoping
to receive the letter grade of an A when I get out of this class but first I must master the skill of time
management and be enthusiastic when it comes to all the aspects of this writing class. Like I said in my
first in-class writing assignment, it takes knowledge from inside and outside of the textbook so I have to
get used to the inside part. I could also be a better planner, in general and that would aid in the road to
receiving an A out of the class because I tend to plan very little or if at all. My questions for you at this
point are: How do you feel my performance as a student thus far? And from what you see of me, in and
out of the classroom (participation, daybook, papers, presentations, etc.) would you agree or disagree
with the grade I have given myself?

As I stated above, I do believe overall at this time I deserve an overall grade of a B+. I believe I
am giving you Grade A work but I am not giving you the Grade A Kevin that is there but not all the
time. Once I work out these personal obstacles I have to overcome, then I know I will be working at my
full potential and that A student I can be. I do believe if I work through this next semester, keeping my
head on straight, and staying on top the assignments that need to be completed then I will continue to
do well and surpass the writing ability I have today.
