How to configure DTERM to work

1. Run Dterm

3. Select the RS232 tab and apply the correct COM port used. (The COM port used can be
confirmed from going to My Computer->manage->device Manager->Ports). Click OK to
apply.

4. Click the General tab and select Serial RS 232 and click OK to apply

5. Click on the RS232 icon on the task bar of Dterm to open the port

That is the end of the configuration.

Setting up the connection to the SUMX and RRH

1. Connect the RS232 female to female cable between the laptop and the TEST port on the
SUMX 19
2. Connect a straight through Ethernet cable between the laptop and the AUX 1 port on
the SUMX 19

3. Configure laptop Ethernet port (IP address 172.140.12.1, netmask 255.255.255.0)

5. Bring up DTERM to capture OMU trace via serial port

6. Copy and paste the commands below into the Dterm window and press enter. (Note: A
lot of output might be seen on the dterm during the procedure. Simply ignore them)
switchEnablePort(0,1)
switchSetPortEgressVlan(0,1,4090,0)
switchSetPortIngressVlan(0,1,4090,0)
Note: After this procedure, the AUX port LEDs should start lighting showing there is data
exchange between the laptop and the SUMX. In case the LEDs dont light, try the
procedure again.
7. Open command line and try to ping the RRH IP address (TEI 192: 172.140.12.33,TEI 195:
172.140.12.49, TEI 196: 172.140.12.65, TEI 197: 172.140.12.81) The TEI can be found
from the BTS NEM.

8. If the Ping operation works ok (the RRHs can be reached), then telnet to the RRH IP
address (172.140.12.33, 172.140.12.49, 172.140.12.65 )
