Leadership Reflection
Clinical Assignment
December 1, 2014
This semester I had the opportunity to be a Professional Development Coordinator. In this
position I was able to serve as a teacher leader as well as a member of a team. I gained valuable
learning experiences in working with others and how to develop the skills of becoming a teacher
leader.
At the beginning of the semester we met as a team of Professional Development
Coordinators. During this meeting we were able to collaborate, assign a team leader, and
delegate tasks that needed to be completed this semester. My job was to be the director of one of
our social media outlets, Pinterest. In the beginning of semester I created a Pinterest page and
invited our pre-professional block to follow. The link was also included in the Bulldog Bulletin.
Once the Pinterest account was created I organized the boards into different categories.
From that point forward I was able to pin professional development articles and other helpful tips
and ideas to the boards. This account serves as a resource for students in our block to use as well
as anyone else who wants to follow.
Being able to serve in a leadership position was a great learning experience. I was able to
continue to grow as an individual and teacher leader. This leadership opportunity reminded me
how important it is to stay up to date on what is up in coming and to continue to keep up with the
constant changes in the world of education. Based on this experience I gained a new perspective
on what it means to be a teacher leader, along with furthering my professional development
opportunities.
