Dear  Parent/  Guardian,

Welcome  to  a  new  school  year.    Your  child  has  been  enrolled  in  a  comprehensive

health  education  class,  which  will  include  sexuality  education.    A  committee  made  up  of
educators,  parents  of  students,  community  members,  and  students  have  designed  and  approved
this  sexuality  program  to  meet  the  standards  of  the  district  as  well  as  the  state  of  Michigan.    The
curriculum  I  will  be  covering  in  this  course  meets  the  requirements  of  State  of  Michigan  law  and
the  recommendations  of  the  Michigan  Department  of  Education  to  ensure  that  the  best
practices  regarding  health  education  are  being  taught.    The  course  is  planned  to  be  age-‐
appropriate  for  your  son  or  daughter.
As  a  parent  or  guardian,  you  have  the  right  to  submit  a  letter,  to  my  contact  information
above,  removing  your  child  from  this  course  without  penalty.      You  have  the  right  to  make  an
appointment  with  myself  in  order  to  review  the  materials  applied  in  the  course.    If  you  wish  to
observe  your  son  or  daughter’s  class,  contact  me  using  the  information  above.

The  purpose  of  this  course  is  to  ensure  that  your  child  acquires  the  essential  skills  to

be  safe  and  healthy  in  every  aspect  of  life.    Attached  is  the  list  of  topics  my  class  will  cover.

Sincerely,

Aubry  Russell
