Fall Practicum Placement
9-12th grade - Unity High School, Duluth, MN 10/01/14 - 11/30/14
• Implemented 8 separate lessons for students in different classes and at different
ages.
• Introduced and took advantage of different technologies including: GoogleCast,
SpicyNodes, Google Drive documents and presentations, Prezi, and the unlimited
research available on the ALC Chromebooks.
• Introduced or Participated in lessons on many different texts: The Lord of the
Flies, Hamlet, The Yellow Wallpaper, The Great Gatsby, The Ones Who Walk
Away from Omelas.
• Introduced and Assessed the beginnings of paragraph writing, letter writing, technical writing processes, and creative writing.
Spring Practicum Placement
6th grade - Marshall Middle School, Duluth, MN 02/01/14 - 05/20/14

• Planned and Implemented two lessons, one on reading strategies with Sandra Cisneros “Eleven”, another on writing with different perspectives using fairy tales,
well known stories, current best sellers, etc.
• Assessed student performance on quizzes/handouts.
• Assisted students in their various writing projects, including Prezi presentations,
personal poetry, blog postings, and “Top 5” lists throughout the semester.
• Engaged in the small book group readings throughout the semester.
Adopt-a-Class Placement
9th grade - Duluth East High School, Duluth, MN 11/13
• Designed a 4 day lesson introducing students to the 5 paragraph essay.
• Gave examples of good essays and analyzed with students what part of essays were
not so good/bad strategies to use.
• Assessed and gave feedback on in class essays the students wrote given a prompt
similar to one found on the Minnesota Comprehension Assessment they would be
taking in the spring.
Community Education Teacher
Ordean East Middle School Community Education, Duluth, MN 09/13-01/14
• Designed courses and handouts for various education topics, including: Ipad, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, “What’s New in Technology”, and Google.
• Collaborated with a team of teaching majors on how to teach the courses, which
subjects should be taught, from what level we should start instruction, and how to
schedule the courses.
• Worked one on one with many members of the community instructing and answering questions on various technology topics.

10-12th grade Geometry - Carlton High School, Carlton, MN 09/10-06/11
• Collaborated with the teacher and one other student on topics and methods of teaching instruction.
• Designed handouts and worksheets to go along with the lesson plan.
• Assessed student performance by collecting a portfolio and grading tests/daily
work.
• Taught lessons and lead review activities when the teacher was not available.
