grid to be used with a 6-sided dice
More grids can be used to suit different purposes e.g. 3 grids to revise verbs, nouns and
adjectives/adverbs or different lexical sets
A larger grid can be used with a dice of different value or if Ss are given two dice and have to
alternate between throws of a single dice or both.

DICE GAME 2
Mats: dice (enough for all Ss in pairs), board, two different markers, blank paper.
Collaborative writing where Ss continue a story but are allowed a limited number of words
each time defined by the dice each time. The T or a scribe alternates markers and boards the
story.
First time T models story alternating between him/herself and the class ending up with a
short story after 5 or 7 throws. Then T pairs Ss, gives dice, markers and paper. Ss write a
story ending after 10-12 throws.
T can dictate how the story will begin or end to help Ss practice something specific e.g.
narrative tenses or link it to a theme e.g. a series of fortunate/unfortunate events, fancy
dress story, or exam-related topics.
