In Remembrance of Little Jimmy Dickens

By Elton Camp
I attended Grand Ole Opry one night
Little Jimmy Dickens was a delight
It was several years ago, they did name
Him to Country Music Hall of Fame
Now hell perform for us no more
He passed away at age ninety-four
Its oldest active star the Opry lost
To showmanship, a real cost
May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose
Quirky songs like that the performer chose
Thanks, Little Jimmy, for your long career
Of your equal, were unlikely ever to hear

Farewell to Little Jimmy Dickens
