What is light?

Visible light is the name of the range of electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by human eye.
What is lux?
A unit of illumination (Illumination- an observable property and effect of light) equal to direct illumination on
a surface that is everywhere one m from a uniform source of one candle intensity (SI unit of luminous
intensity i.e. power emitted by light source in a particular direction) or equal to one lumen (S.I. unit of lumen
flux measure of total amount of visible light emitted by source.) per sq. m
A unit of equal to direct illumination on a surface that is everywhere one m from a uniform source of one
candle intensity or equal to one lumen per sq. m
What is Foot Candle?
Non- S.I. unit of light intensity. Amount of illumination inside surface of a one-foot radius sphere would be
receiving if there were a uniform point source of one candle in the exact centre of the sphere. OR

One lumen per sq. foot

What is illuminance?
Luminous flux incident on unit area of surface.
LUMINANCE amount of light energy emitted or reflected from an object in a specific direction.
LUMINOUS FLUX the total amount of light energy radiated from a source in all directions.
What is Day light Factor?
Ratio of illumination from windows at any point indoors to that out in the open, the test surface being
horizontal.
What is reverberation?
Echo repeatedly for several seconds.
What are the different types of sky?
Overcast -
