A High Point man is in jail under secured bonds totaling $7,250,000 after a joint investigation
led to heroin related charges.
On January 8, 2015, at 4:44 p.m., a joint investigation was conducted by the Thomasville Police
Department, Davidson County Sheriffs Office, Randolph County Sheriffs Office, High Point
Police Department, and Homeland Security. As a result of this investigation, a search warrant
was executed at 3613 Eastward Ave., Lot 4, High Point, NC, where Gregory Lamont Monroe,
39, of Kerns Avenue, High Point, was taken into custody and charged with two (2) counts of
trafficking in heroin (namely 35 grams), two (2) counts of trafficking in opiates, possession
with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver heroin, possession of heroin, and possession of
drug paraphernalia. Monroe was taken before the Randolph County Magistrate where he
received a secured bond of $5,000,000. His court date in Randolph County is scheduled for
01/09/2015.
Monroe was also wanted by the High Point Police and Guilford County Sheriffs Office for
failing to appear in court on 12 felony heroin related charges, habitual felon, and feloniously
failing to report a new address as a sex offender. Monroe received an additional secured bond
of $2,250,000. His court date in Guilford County is scheduled for 01/26/2015.
A dangerous drug has been taken off the streets as a result of a joint investigation with
multiple agencies, said Detective Lt. Dustin Carter. This investigation demonstrates what a
significant and positive impact law enforcement agencies working together can make in our
communities.
