Advocacy Advertising: Media Analysis


Instructions:
1) Read pages 471-480 in Echoes 12. These are five examples of media texts which will help you
to complete your own media analysis and presentation assignment.
2) Complete questions # 1-4 (page 481) as practice.
Assignment: Increasingly, corporations, non-profit organizations, and governments are using advertising
and marketing to promote images and ideas. This advocacy advertising is usually less direct than
product-selling advertising.

Research a variety of media sources from the Internet and choose ONE to present
Create a short presentation (5 minutes) alone or with a partner
Provide examples of some of the ways your organization uses advertising and marketing
to promote ideas (you could show your example to the class via Power Point, an Internet
website, or on a poster)
