Dear Parents,
St Johns Ambulance released a campaign this month to teach people how to save a choking baby
their video The Chokeables is currently being featured in the ad breaks on TV.
At Acorns, all our staff are fully trained in Paediatric First Aid and we realise the importance of
knowing how to react quickly, calmly and correctly in situations such as choking, lack of
consciousness, febrile convulsions etc.
We believe that First Aid skills are vital for parents as well as our staff, and therefore will be holding
Child and Infant First Aid Taster Sessions at our Acorns House Nursery in Park Grove on 6th and 13th
March. These courses are being held on our premises by St John and parents will receive an ecertificate of attendance. More advanced courses are available directly from St John but this taster
session will cover the basic lifesaving skills.
The taster session will cover
Primary Survey
Resuscitation
Unconscious Casualty
Choking
There will be 2 sessions each morning and 2 each afternoon on both days. The sessions are free of
charge and parents are able to bring children under 5 years of age who will be looked after by
nursery staff for the duration of the course.
There are only 12 spaces on each course so if you are interested please fill in the form overleaf and
return to me via email by Friday 30th January.
