Camp Triumph, Kensington, PEI

August 2013

I volunteered as a camp councilor. I dealt with children ages 7 to 18; these children have
family members with diseases and illness. Helped organized games and activities, as well
as being involved with everyday activities such as mealtimes and bedtime. I had a cabin
of six fifteen-year-old girls. This experience reinforced my desire to be a teacher. The
children here were a challenge, a lot not willing to participate, follow rules or cooperate.
It pushed me to be creative and learn new strategies to deal with these problems.
