Sidikou has today recognised the significant progress Somalia has made
in engaging women in political, peace and reconciliation processes.
Ambassador Sidikou made the observation on Saturday as he handed over
an assortment of items to support the Federal Government of Somalia
(FGS) in organizing the national event to mark the International Womens

He observed that over the past two decades, Somali women have played
vital roles as family heads and breadwinners in addition to championing
the peacemaking and building processes.
Mumino Sheikh Omar, the Deputy Minister of Women and Human Rights
Development received the items on behalf of the FGS during the
ceremony in Mogadishu.

She applauded the role played by AMISOM in restoring peace and security
in society as well as supporting national institutions and arms of the

they have secured our country. We appreciate all this support. We also
thank them for the good cooperation, said Minister Omar.
Ambassador Sidikou however observed that the task for ensuring gender
equality is far from over and pledged the support of AMISOM in
collaboration with other development partners and civil society
organizations, towards efforts at ensuring the protection of the rights of
Somali women.
AMISOM will join women around the world in solidarity for human rights,
