Lady Liberty You Lied To Me

Lady liberty you lied to me

You promised me freedom and equality
But you lied to me
Because i still wear shackles on my feet
And I still don't know the equal in equality
And I'm yet to be granted opportunities
To prove that I can be a positive asset to society

Lady liberty you lied to me

I crossed borders with burdens on my back
I board the plane with only a small carry on
I was sure to forgets my baggage at the baggage claim
Because you can't be free with extra weight
So I left my culture
What I knew of life
At the airport
To find something new
Something beautiful
But you lied to me

Lady liberty you lied to me

Left me with a dream

Struck down by reality

What do you leave for me
Besides...
Struggles
Hardship
Poverty
What do you have to offer me
Besides....
Lost hopes
False promises
An empty Me

Lady liberty you lied to me

Cause no one gives a job to an immigrant
No one respects an immigrant
Because my broken english
Makes me less human
More Immigrant
More Incapable
It gives me mush for a brain
Like different blood runs through my veins
Like were not all the same
Don't we all have wet backs ?

Lady Liberty you lied to me

Fuck you symbolism
Fuck your lies
Cause you promised me a new life
For the one I left behind
But you lied
Lady Liberty You Lied To Me
