Imperialism

Japan, an island country who used to be an isolationist country, had stopped connecting and
communicating with the outside world. However, the Meiji Japanese Government was alerted to the
outdated technology they had. The Japanese government began a program of westernization,
modernization, industrialization and imperialism. The Japanese government had done westernization and
industrialization, therefore it became one of the most powerful countries on the earth. However, the
influence of the imperialism of Japan brought to other countries was awful and heinous.
Japanese imperialism government was a selfish and awful government, they can obliterate a
country for their own benefit(Japan wanted to obtain the resources for its industrialization). Korea
demonstrated the consequence of being colonized by Japan with the unmeasurable loss of Korean
properties. During 1910 ~ 1945, Japanese was trying to erase Korea’s culture and Korean therefore they
could dominate Korea and gather resources in Korea. The following quote is from “Andrew Nahm,
Korea: Tradition and transformation” (a book includes the change on tradition of Korea throughout of
history), P. 250, Korean Education Policy, “The colonial government issued an education ordinance in
August 1911 which stated that the purpose of education in Korea was to produce “loyal and obedient”
and useful subjects of the Japanese emperor.” Japanese tried to manipulate Korean kids and let them
service the Japanese emperor. Children can be manipulated with no difficulty by the social environment.
It is an essential element for children, I have seen an essay about this topic, “Parenting, Social
Environment and its Effect On Child Development” from Virtual Medical Centre website, social
environment to children can change their whole life. Therefore Japan want to transform it. The following
quote is from “Andrew Nahm, Korea: Tradition and Transformation, Korea Education Policy”, “All
textbooks, which had been previously used in Korean schools, were confiscated and only those approved
by the government were allowed.” Through this excerpt, Japanese government was eliminating Korean
and concealing their heinous sins. Korean can’t learn Korean, speak Korean and read Korean. Japan tried

to reform another Japan by obliterating Korean spirit. Because Japanese government knew perhaps let
Korean keep learning Korean and reading Korean, Korean would unite to launch a revolution.
If you have time for checking the colonialism history of Japan, you would find out Japanese
government is an ambitious government. During Ms. Earth was enjoying her afternoon tea, after they
finished the colonization in Korea, they immediately locked China by using Japanese “colonization”
missile. However, they not only being inoffensive with China but to attack strong Russia ( Russia had
suppressed on China ). “Young China”(the newspaper made up Japan as the inspiration) reported,
“By Japan’s defeat of China in 1895, Japan had forced to face the reality of China’s weakness. By its
defeat of Russia ten years later, Japan had shown that an Asian army could defeat a European one. For
China, Japan replaced as the dominant power in Manchuria.” In this old news, Japan had ascended the
throne. That means once China messed with Japan and Japan launched the war (and they did, for details
in “Japanese colonization in China”) , China will be in disadvantages during the war because they didn’t
have advanced technology as Japan did. “The Pearl Harbor attack”, “Japan's navy has sent six aircraft
carriers, more than 300 aircraft, troops, divided into two waves of attacks. Due to the US had been
surprised, the Japanese made significant achievements, and hit the US sank eight battleships, three
cruisers, three destroyers, and 188 US aircraft were destroyed, resulting in 2,402 people killed and 1,282
wounded. However, the Japanese victory is not complete, the island's power stations, maintenance
equipment, fuel and command headquarters were not destroyed, the main naval battle - the aircraft
carriers were in port. Even so, and the United States compared with the loss, the loss is minimal
Japanese only lost 29 aircraft and five pocket submarines, a total of 65 soldiers were killed or missing,
and a Japanese submarine crew was captured.” This military attack had a significant impact on the
development of the Second World War. Japan didn’t have a declaration of war, therefore outraged
American public opinion. The national self-isolationism turned to support war. At the same time,
Germany and Italy declared war to the United States. Therefore United States joined the European
battlefield, because of its superior industrial capacity, given the various anti-Axis camp a lot of resources,
led to the final demise of the Axis powers.

As we known, the impact of WWII is bloody and worldwide. Germany, Italy, Japan were Axis
Power, the main imperialism force on the World, they brought the bloody World War II to the world.
Japanese almost obliterated Korea and China. Japan was the major player of WWII. Today, Japanese
nevertheless, didn’t give up colonizing China and Korea. Japan wants to have sovereignty of Senkaku
Island, not only because of Petroleum Resources but also it is a great military foundation for colonizing.
