Narrative

A multi genre text set is when you take different collections of books and pull
them all together for a definitive purpose. The purpose is to pull your resources
together and have everything in one location so that whatever you are studying or
presenting will be made easier. They are designed to be supportive and resourceful
for readers needing multiple books with varying details on one topic. They are very
useful, especially in classrooms, and can help make researching a topic all the much
easier. It is also a great tool for students because if they are having a tough time
learning something or wanting to just know more you can pull up a text set, show
them the books available to them in the library, and they can go research more. A
multi genre text set can also include e-books, media, and other ways to help
students learn. If a book is not the best way for the student to learn you can begin
exploring other options that are best for the student. It is a fantastic tool for
students.
Multi genre text sets are great for learning because it gives students multiple
chances to find a book that works for them all on the same topic or subject.
Sometimes you can have every student read the same book about a topic and only
half will understand the information. This gives each student a fair and equal
opportunity to learn and receive the information in the way that is best for them.
Opening up literature like this to students in an appealing way could be one of the
big distinctions that helps them learn to love reading and setting up a solid
foundation for the rest of their school years. This is very relevant to public school
children because sometimes they do not receive near as much support at home in
terms of their academics and it harder for them to keep up with demanding pace of
school work. They do not always have time or resources to go and search for books
for projects or anything else happening in the classroom. Having a text set

available to this child so that they can easily go and look up books to take home or
share could be another changing point in what a child needs to succeed. It is
sometimes the littlest of things that can change everything and help a child through
the hardest of times.
