THE UGLY DUCKLING

Thank you to the Master of Ceremony. A very good morning to the
honourable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. Today, I would like to
present a story entitled The Ugly Duckling.

Once upon a time, there lived a duck family. Mother Duck had been
sitting on a clutch of new eggs. One nice morning, the eggs hatched and
out popped six chirpy ducklings. But one egg was bigger than the rest, and
it didn't hatch. Mother Duck could not recall laying that seventh egg. How
did it get there? TOCK! TOCK! The little prisoner was pecking inside his
shell.

"Hmmm...I can't understand how this ugly duckling can be one of

mine!" she said to herself, shaking her head as she looked at her last
born. As the days went by, the poor ugly duckling became more and more
unhappy.

His brothers didn't want to play with him, he was so clumsy, and all
the farmyard folks simply laughed at him. He felt sad and lonely, while
Mother Duck did her best to console him.
"Poor little ugly duckling!" she would say. "Why are you so different
from the others?" And the ugly duckling felt worse than ever. He secretly
wept at night. He felt nobody wanted him.
Why theres nobody loves me?
I am alone and scared..
I wish to have many friends
So I can play and happy with them
I wish to be somebody
Who beautiful so others will not tease me..

Why theres nobody loves me...

Nobody loves me...
Ok..Bye...

A little duckling was very sad because he thought he was the ugliest
amongst all his brothers and sisters. He decided to leave home and went
far away into the woods.

Finally, spring arrived. One day, the duckling saw a beautiful swan
swimming in the pond and fell in love with her. But then he remembered
how everyone made fun of him and he bent his head down in shame.

When he saw his own reflection in the water he was astonished. He

was not an ugly duckling anymore, but a handsome young swan! Now, he
knew why he had looked so different from his brothers and sisters. They
were ducklings but I was a baby swan! he said to himself. And he almost
burst with happiness.

Friends, here are a few moral values that we can learn from this
story. First, never give up and be proud of ourselves. Second, never judge
a book by its cover. Just because he is ugly doesnt mean he is useless.

Thats all, thank you.
