Out of 65 participating BC communities, Logan Lake ranked 5th for its 3.2%
electricity savings during Earth Hour on
Saturday between 8:30-9:30pm. They
placed behind only Whistler (7.2%), Invermere (6.7%), Clearwater (4.0%), and Houston (3.9%). Merritt did not participate.
Overall, British Columbians saved 15
megawatt hours of electricity (0.2%) during Earth Hour the equivalent of turning off about 680,000 LED light bulbs.
But this years numbers are just a fraction of last years 65 megawatt hours (1%
reduction in overall provincial load), and
the 136 megawatt hours (1.95%) in 2013.
