Activity 1: Beginners

Players will get into pairs and set up four cones (two each) which they will then
attempt to hit the ball between, to differentiate for each performer the cones will then
be made wider or more narrow depending on the success of the hit; this allows
players to practise hitting the ball repeatedly while having a target large enough that
they can get success and then move on to a harder challenge. Players will start 10
metres away from the cones but move further back after their success means that
their target cant get much smaller.

Cones will move closer and further apart depending on success and players will move
backwards after the target is as close together as it can be, this is however unlikely will
beginner performers.

Activity 2: Intermediate

Players complete a three man weave, followed by passing the ball into a hockey
goal. This drill requires three players to start on a line and run towards a hockey
goal. As they run towards their target they will pass the ball to each other and then
follow their pass by curving their run to be behind the person of whom they had just
passed. As the player who passed runs in the direction of their pass the next
performer will pass to the third and final performer. Passing continues in this
sequence until finally the ball is passed into the hockey goal. The drill works on
passing, control and moving.
Goal

Three man weave showing six passes and the pass into the goal,
players run forwards at all times.

Activity 3: Advanced
The activity for the advanced pupils will be simple but concentrate on a difficult but
regularly used skill: shooting on the move from the edge of the shooting area. This
sort of skill is used regularly in games of hockey in many circumstances including
short corners and within open play. The drill will have one player passing to another
who will be laying off the ball either left or right depending what the shooting
performer shouts.

Goal

Player will only go left or right, and the player laying off the ball will
only pass either left or right. This depends on what the shooting player
shouts after his initial pass.
