Assessment:
You will be able to determine if the lesson is successful if students are able to
break up fraction bars using the denominator, shade in appropriate sections
using the numerator, and identify the value of each broken up section. I will
assess students by walking around the classroom with a checklist of the
three objectives listed above and checking off what they can do successfully.
Differentiation:
Intervention
Some students may not know how to approach solving these problems.
Ask these students to only work of day 1 and to use the fraction bars to
help them solve the problem.
Extension
For students who quickly solve all of the problems ask them to
estimate the fraction of the race each participant has cycled on day 3.
