Project Guidelines

Purpose: to demonstrate your understanding of the cell organelles and their functions. Projects will be
presented in class.

RAFT: you will be using RAFT as a way to organize your project
Role: Entrepreneur
Audience: Panel of investors
Format: Blueprint and key with explanation
Topic: Convince the panel to choose your design/project
You may choose any type of business that you want, be creative! (Ex: airport, factory, amusement park, etc.)

You must:
o Include the cell type (plant or animal) identified somehow on the project key
o Include your name and class period must be identified somehow on the project and key
o All organelles must be included for whichever cell you choose:
Cell membrane
Nucleus
Chromatin
Nucleolus
Cytoplasm
Vacuoles
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Ribosomes
Golgi apparatus (golgi bodies)
Mitochondria
Lysosomes
Cell wall
Chloroplasts

Resources:
o Wanted poster notes.
o Life sciences textbook.
o Science notebook.
o Classmates.

Grading criteria
o Content: each organelle is described accurately (if you were not here for the organelle game show on
Thursday 4/9, you will need to check your notes against mine). Each organelle must have appropriate
representation within the project (Be sure the organelle you represent as part of the business makes
sense).
o Creativity: the project should have uniqueness that will make it your own.
o Final product: the final product should be neat and organized based on the project chosen.
o Total points: 100
o You will have some in class time but you must work on your project at home as well.

You may work individual or with a partner
o If working with a partner, you must demonstrate you can BOTH work hard and stay on task. Mrs.
Markley and Ms. Palmer may decide you and your partner need to work alone if you demonstrate you
cannot handle the partnership.
