CPR on Legalization of Marijuana

With marijuana on the verge of becoming legal, more people will use it and also the price
of it will decrease. Marijuana should be removed it from the criminal system and should be
publically used like alcohol and cigarettes. Colorado, Washington D.C., Oregon and Alaska are
the only states that have legalized marijuana and are licensed to sale it to the public. Marijuana
would bring millions of jobs in the job market creating various opportunities if it were legal. This
report will cover legalization of marijuana from different perspectives and why legalizing this
drug would help create millions of jobs, help us as community or population to get out of debt
and the positive benefits it has to offer.
The bill that was introduced by three senators would soon be passed making marijuana
legal for medical use in states where it is legal. It would then be move down to schedule 2
meaning it has a less abuse potential instead of schedule 1 meaning it has a high potential for
abuse, has no medical use in treatment, and a lack of accepted safety for the use of the drug.
Some of these side effects include relieving pain, nausea, appetite loss, insomnia and seizures
associated with various illnesses. The bill would also allow doctors to prescribe medical
marijuana to veterans.
The consensus statement reflects data and research-based points to audience or reader to
understand and discuss marijuana legalization. The DEA first classified marijuana as a schedule
1 drug. This means possession of this drug would result in jail time and possibly paying a fee if
caught with possession with marijuana. Then in the 1970s Congress enacted laws against
marijuana in saying that is safe to use as a medicine. Also, this census statement shows statistics
of impacts it has on us as far as our health, safety, and education.
Medical cannabis focuses mostly on the restriction of its recreational use. An agency in

oriented areas, combined with the growing need to initiate clinical trials relating to cannabis.
According to a survey of 400 physicians, both general practitioners and specialists in the
Netherlands only 6% said that they were under no condition willing to prescribe medicinal
cannabis, while 60% to 70% regarded medicinal cannabis sufficiently socially accepted and
would prescribe it if asked for by a patient. The laws in the Netherlands about cannabis are
slightly different when compared to the United States. Drugs should be accepted if is rational,
relatively useful and if it is safe.
This scholarly article, Should marijuana be legalized? is about the various number of
debates over legalizing this drug. Its illegal for anyone under the age of 21 even in the states
where it is legal. Young people have more experience and an easier way of accessing marijuana
than adults. Marijuana has a lot side effects that influence people in a positive way. The National
Survey on Drug Use and Health has repeatedly found that children who began alcohol or
marijuana use before age 15 had a fivefold-increased prevalence of substance use disorders later
in life. Scientists and other organizations and agencies are gambling with the health and safety of
our youth in making decisions about psychoactive substances such as marijuana when their real
risks are unknown.(2013, Barnidge, T. p. 344)
The U.S. Department of Justice issued a letter to urge state attorneys to avoid blocking
laws that allow the medical and recreational use of marijuana. The letter also stated that the use
of marijuana can impair peoples ability to drive. (2013, Whibey, J., np) Likewise, the letter
claims marijuana harmful effects can include depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. The number of
cannabis users in need of treatment rank high compared to other illicit drugs.

Tom Barnidge strongly claims benefits to legalizing marijuana. Barnidge also claims
that nothing has changed in the 95 year battle against drugs.(2013, pp.93-97) The war on drugs
is described as a dismal failure and a destructive policy. The following benefits comply with the
proposed Assembly Bill relating to legalization of marijuana. Law enforcement resources
allocated more wisely and a decline in the prison population. State revenues from sales taxes
estimated at $1.4 billion. Putting an end to fighting over medical marijuana. Revitalization of the
hemp farming industry and deglamorization of the recreational use of marijuana.
In conclusion, people are still finding ways to get their hands on this harmless drug. The
reasons have been shown why marijuana is good for your health. There are two different species:
indica and sativa. With indica, it causes sleepiness, relieves anxiety and relieves pain. Indica
plants are short, densely branched and have wider leaves and are best suited to be grown indoors.
On the other hand, sativa makes you energetic, stimulates appetite and enhances creativity.
Sativa plants are tall, loosely branched and have long, narrow leaves. They are usually grown
outdoors. Marijuana in most cases, is less harmful than tobacco knowing as result, that tobacco

has thousands of deaths and marijuana still has no recorded deaths. With various laws against
marijuana and other types of bills, letters, etc. marijuana for recreational will soon be legalized.
The various side effects of marijuana affect people differently. Millions of jobs would be created
if Cannabis were legalized. Some people use for both recreational and medical purposes. Most
people use for medical purposes to help cope with aches, pains, and other kinds of illnesses.
People have their different thoughts and viewpoints on marijuana. People should have the right
to use marijuana. From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make
choices for themselves. The government only has a right to limit those choices if the individual's
actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual who
chooses to use marijuana does so according to his or her own free will. The government also may
have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual.
But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana because marijuana is far less dangerous
than some drugs which are legal, such as alcohol and tobacco. Individuals deserve the right to
decide whether or not they should use marijuana. The government should not tell individuals
what to do as long as they do not harm others.
