Mission Statement:
This organizations purpose is to provide an
inviting, safe, compassionate environment for
individuals of all ages in West Michigan who have
experienced the loss of a loved one.
Under the care of trained professionals, we
provide supportive services, education,
counseling, and creative therapy to begin and
sustain the process of healing.

Philosophy:
Based on Bowlbys stages of grieving,
members of A Healing Heart provide
confidential, supportive services to
individuals in the West Michigan area who
have experience the loss of a loved one.
Through techniques that highlight the
importance of safe and effective coping
mechanisms, the individual can learn skills
for successful reintegration of life after loss.

Organizational Goals:
Assist individuals on reflecting on the past,
redefining their present, and recreating their future.
Assist individuals in developing a new self identity based on life without the loved one.
Help the individual experience the loss in a meaningful way.
Ensure adoption of healthy coping mechanisms for all individuals who receive services,
through education.
Ensure that means of contact and services provided are up to date and accessible.
Enhance community support by giving back to the community through providing
opportunities for community involvement.

Organizational Objectives:
To assist individuals in identifying meaningful coping mechanisms in order to deal with loss of
loved one within the first six months.
To make progress towards creating a new personal identity without the loved one within a year.
To educate individuals on the stages of grief within the first month of treatment.
To participate in a community event each quarter in order to establish rapport within the
community.
To maintain the most current evidence based therapy,
members of the staff will attend a bereavement conference
each year and then present on what was learned.

Seeking a Center Center Coordinator/Manager for new West Michigan
Bereavement Center. This position serves as a mentor by role modeling a
professional organization consistent with organizational goals, customer
service, evidence based practice, and standards of care.
Healing Heart Bereavement Center offers the opportunity to
enlighten support and educate grieving clients through this paid position.
