BALL STATE UNIVERISTY ANNUAL WELLOWEEN FAIR MUNCIE, IN
Oct. 30, 2014: Assisted the Nutrition Labs booth in testing peoples BMIs
and answering any nutrition questions. Completed 1 hour.
BALL STATE DINING SERVICES - PRACTICUM
Observed Amanda Kruse, Ball States Wellness Nutritionist, on what she did
on an everyday basis. During my time I had the opportunity to assist her
during an information session with children in the Boys and Girls Club. The
children go to play games, one of them being nutrition bingo where I had to
read off the clue and they had to guess the food group/nutrient/etc. I also
completed two projects, which included coming up with vegan and
vegetarian meal options for students eating in the dining facilities, as well as
creating a list of nutrient poor verses nutrient rich foods that students could
choose from when eating on campus. Completed 10 hours.
IU HEALTH NORTH PRACTICUM
Observed Deb Vine, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator,
during some of her daily activities. Had the opportunity to observe both Deb
and a Registered Nurse who is also a Certified Diabetes Educator during an
appointment with a Japanese patient who had been diagnosed with
gestational diabetes. Completed 10 hours.
PEYTON MANNING CHILDRENS HOSPITAL AT ST. VINCENTS PRACTICUM
Observed Kimberly Weiss, the Registered Dietitian who works with children in
the Weight Management and Hyperlipidemia clinic, during her daily activities.
I was able to observe several appointments and counseling sessions with
children and their families and how Kimberly effectively helped them
understand why proper nutrition is so important to their health. During my
second day of practicum, I observed LuAnn Renner, a Registered Nurse and
Certified Diabetes Educator, due to a conflict in Kimberlys schedule. I

observed her during rounds where she met with patients staying in the
hospital. Completed 10 hours.
