Fall 2006 Intro to IHOP – Prayer 5

Teresa McCarthy

Col 1:9-11 That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and
spiritual understanding; that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing
Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, for all patience and
longsuffering with joy . . .

That revelation of God’s will would be imparted to us and that we would live in a way
that is consistent with that revelation. As a reflection of that revelation, we would interact
with others in the increasing empowerment of His character.

Lord’s will is.

b. Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the
knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened . . .

2. That we would have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him
a. 2 Corinthians 5:9 So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are
at home in the body or away from it

b. 1 Timothy 6:11 But you, man of God . . . pursue righteousness,

godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

3. That we would be fruitful in every good work; increasing in the knowledge of

God

a. Hosea 10:12 Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of

unfailing love

b. Matthew 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance

4. That we would be strengthened with all might according to His glorious power

grace

b. 2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life
and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own
glory and goodness.
