INTRODUCTION

## Today we are going to be

baking delicious treats! While
baking you have to make sure
you follow the recipe perfectly
to make sure it tastes yummy.
When you look at a recipe
what do you notice? Thats
right, FRACTIONS!

## Since we have been learning

about fractions and ordering
them, why not apply them to
real life and make yummy
treats to share?

## Every one is going to play the

role as a baker

Today we are going to bakers! There will be three teams, one
team will be making a cupcake, another team will be making
a cookie, and the last team will be making brownies. With
these teams we are going to do some work with fractions.
We are going to add fractions by doubling a recipe, find
equivalent fractions, and order fractions from greatest to
least.
When we are baking we have to be precise as we can be and
we do this by measuring the right amount for each
ingredient.
TIME TO BAKE!!

We will be dealing with a real world situation with fractions
We will be applying our skills in fractions
-Ordering fractions
-Comparing fractions
We will be having a lot of fun and enjoying
treats that we got to make ourselves
for the entire class
We will be especially creative

PROCESS
TEAM CUPCAKE
TEAM BROWNIE
First, gather with your team and write out all your ingredients
you will need and how much for each ingredient.
Secondly, since we want to share our treats we are going to
DOUBLE the recipe. (That means you are going to have to
make sure you have enough ingredients for two recipes).
Next, I want you to write out 3 different fractions that are still
going to be the equivalent amount of ingredient. For
example cup of sugar, 2/4 cups of sugar, 50/100 cups of
sugar, and 30/60 cups of sugar.
Then, with all your fractions I want you to list them from
greatest to least
Once all your work is done it is time to grab a parent/guardian
and an apron and get baking!!!!!!

Conclusion
SummaryThe three different groups are to work with real life
fraction found in the ingredients of some of our
favorite treats! After adding fractions, ordering,
and finding equivalent fractions students are to
create a glogster and on the final day they will
present to the class AND share their delicious
treats with the class.
ReflectionWrite about another instance where you might run into
fractions in a real life situation and explain. (3-5 sentences)
