TOUR DE CURE DAY IN CITIES OF BUFFALO AND NIAGARA FALLS
BUFFALO, NYToday the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Mayor Byron Brown and Mayor
Paul Dyster announced the 2015 Seneca Resorts & Casinos Tour de Cure, presented by
Independent Health. This years Tour de Cure will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, beginning at
Old Falls Street in downtown Niagara Falls, NY. The signature cycling event attracts riders of all skill
levels, and raises funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy efforts. The ADA invites
riders, sponsors and volunteers to participate in this community-driven ride.
Im proud to support the American Diabetes Association in their fight to Stop Diabetes and the
diseases deadly consequences, said Byron W. Brown, Mayor of the City of Buffalo. By
proclaiming June 6, 2015 as Tour de Cure Day in the City of Buffalo, I call on Western New
Yorkers to support and participate in this years event by riding or volunteering, in order to raise
funds for those affected by diabetes.
We look forward to hosting the Tour de Cure in Niagara Falls for the first time this year, said
Paul A. Dyster, Mayor of the City of Niagara Falls. We welcome the residents of Niagara Falls,
Buffalo, and our Canadian neighbors to join us in raising awareness about diabetes and support this
important cause.
The Tour de Cure is designed for riders of all levels. There are routes for both the occasional
cyclist and the experienced rider, with trails from 6-mile family rides to 100-mile century rides.
Routes feature rest stops with food to fuel the journey, volunteers to cheer riders on, and Red
Riderscyclists who have diabetesexperiencing VIP treatment. The 2015 Tour de Cure will
also offer a 5K walk/run.
Riders will join more than 65,000 other Tour de Cure cyclists and volunteers from around the
country, in taking part to raise funds for the nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes.
Diabetes affects every community in Western New York, and is a particular concern to Seneca
Resorts & Casinos and the Seneca Nation of Indians. Were pleased to join the community in this
important fight, said Jennifer Caruso, general manager of Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
Independent Health is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Tour de Cure for the seventh
consecutive year. Our partnership with the ADA demonstrates our commitment to the community as
we work toward our common goal to find a cure for diabetes, said Michael W. Cropp, M.D.,
president and CEO of presenting sponsor Independent Health, and honorary chairman of the Tour de
Cure.

In addition to title sponsor Seneca Resorts & Casinos and presenting sponsor Independent Health,

The Tour de Cure raises a significant amount of funds to prevent and cure diabetes, and improve
the lives of those affected by the disease, said Kelly Arthur, manager of Tour de Cure. We hope
the entire Western New York community will join us as riders, sponsors or volunteers to support the
millions of people impacted by this disease.
Registration is still open for individuals and teams composed of co-workers, family and friends.
The Tour de Cure raises funds through registration fees, pledges collected by cyclists, and
