6.2 Interlocks
6.2.1 Mechanical intra-panel interlocks
With the circuit-breaker closed, the interrogation slide is locked for the
disconnector and the earthing switch.
The interrogation slide always releases one insertion opening only
(disconnector or earthing switch), or both of them are locked.
The crank for the disconnector and earthing switch can only be removed
in its appropriate end position.
When the crank for actuation of disconnector or earthing switch has not
been removed, or if the interrogation slide is open, the push-button ON of
the circuit breaker cannot be pressed or the ON pulse is interrupted.
In bus section panels with two interrogation slides, the following features
are locked:
Both interrogation slides cannot be opened simultaneously.
The interrogation slides are blocked depending on the position of the
disconnector or earthing switch (see interlock tables).

6.2.2 Electromagnetic interlocks

Electromagnetic blocking coils can be used for inter-panel as well as
intrapanel
interlocks:
the insertion openings for disconnector and earthing switch by the
interrogation
slide are prevented from being released;
the circuit-breakers ON and OFF push-buttons are blocked.
the cable compartment cover

Important:

In case of failure or absence of the supply voltage, all electrical

interlocks are in their blocked position. Measure: Re-establish
supply voltage.
If no blocking coils to prevent maloperation are used,
mechanical lock-out with padlocks must be provided (see
section 6.2.3).
The switchgear specific wiring diagramm shows detailed
informations about the used electromechanic interlocks.

6.2.3 Mechanical lock-out mechanisms with

Operation (contd.)

6.3 Operating specifications

The switchgear panel may only be operated by specialist electricians who
have proven experience in conjunction with the GHA series (training
certificate) and all relevant Safety regulations.
Refer also to the safety provisions on page 5.

Warning!
To rule out faulty switching, the operating sequences
described below must be complied with. Each
switching operation must be completed.
Check whether the supply voltage is ON.

Important:

-- While the supply voltage is not available, blocking coils

(locking the interrogation slides and circuit-breaker pushbuttons, depending on design), are in locked position. An
undervoltage trip coil (optional) is tripped. Measure: Reestablish the supply voltage.
-- Before operating comply with the specified interlocking
conditions (refer to section 6.2).
-- After each switching operation for which you have used a
crank, remove the crank and store it in the tool board.

with IEC 62271-200. It does not require any maintenance over the panels
entire service life (see also page 14 ).

Switching units
The components in the cladded high-voltage parts of the panel (vacuum
circuitbreaker, disconnector and earthing switch) do not require any
maintenance either.

Gas tank
The pressure tanks are made of stainless, non-magnetic steel.

Warning!
Neither drill holes into nor open gas tanks. Risk of loss of
insulating gas.
The tank must be kept free from any deposits of external metal.
Any risk of pitting corrosion must be avoided.

Drive mechanisms/covers
Drive mechanisms and covers outside of the enclosure are corrosionprotected. Damage to the paint, scratches and deterioration must be
repaired immediately to avoid corrosion.

Panels
The switchgear panels must be checked visually at regular intervals,
depending on the stress they are subject to during operation and the
operating conditions, at least, however, every 4 years.
If dirt or condensation is detected, the panels must be cleaned
professionally. To this effect, only the cleaning agents which have been
approved by the manufacturer may be used (see page 40).

Warning!
Risk of injuries: The drives must not be disassembled
for service and maintenance work.
Important:

In case of frequent condensation or air pollution with dust, smoke

or corrosive gas, the maintenance intervals must be reduced
accordingly.
