Read any cover “blurb”, or inside preface or introduction, and ask yourself:
Why is this book worth your time studying? What do you expect to learn from it?
Reading the Book
Now study each chapter, analyzing and taking notes on each chapter as follows: Note THE CHAPTER TITLE (if any – otherwise note its number) -----------------------------------------
What is the chapter about?
If there seems to be more than one major theme select the dominant one: Alternatively, if the chapter seems to divide into several parts, find the subject of each part
(For each of the following questions note only the most significant points - no more than six for each question) What significant FACTS are given? Are any EVENTS described? What IDEAS are presented? Are any ISSUES raised?
What new understandings have been gained? What previous misunderstandings are now clarified?
Are there any ways in which the lessons of the chapter apply to us today?
List some examples
