Azusa Pacific University Graduate School of Education Department of School Counseling and Psychology PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT FOR COUNSELING CHILDREN T understand that school psychology trainees at Azusa Pacific University are required to ‘counsel children as part of their training. The purpose of the assignment is for School Psychology students to gain skills in providing counseling for children in school settings. Most children find the counseling sessions both fun and challenging. If your child experiences any distress, the school psychology student will terminate the counseling sessions and comfort the child, He/she will report any distress to you and his/her supervisor. Alll counseling sessions will be provided under the direct supervision of a credentialed school psychologist supervisor. Although counseling sessions are confidential in nature, student reports of intent to harm others, self-harm, and reports of child abuse must be reported to the proper authorities.
