Uses

Tensile strength, permanent strain after rupture and

elastic modulus as function of temperature at a thickness
of approximately 5 mm (In accordance to ASTM D 638,
load speed:3 mm/minutes):

Cicol NT Slurry produces an abrasion resistant, non-slip,

wearing course. The system may be applied to prepared
concrete, steel or wooden substrates. Cicol NT Slurry
resin is dressed with selected hard wearing aggregates.

Properties

The thickness is 5 - 8 mm, depending on use and the type

of dressing material selected which in turn provides the
anti-skid properties.

Chemical resistance

Lightweight - important in design considerations.

Petrol, diesel fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic fluids, a

number of aliphatic hydro-carbons, de-icing salts, cleaning
fluids, jet fuel (kerosene), diluted mineral acids and
alkaline solutions.

Hardwearing.
Flexible - excellent flexural and tensile strengths.
Non-slip - even when wet.

Limitations

Waterproof - provides a lightweight, chemically

corrosion resistant and water impermeable wearing
course.

Cicol NT Slurry shall not be applied at temperatures below

+5oC, nor at a temperature lower than +3oC over the dew
point. The maximum application temperature is +35oC.

Description

New concrete should be at least 28 days old (28 days at

+20C) and give a hygrometer readind not exceeding 5%
(Prometer).

Cicol NT Slurry is a solvent-free, three-component, blend

of epoxy and polyurethane resins, reinforced with
chemically inert, graded fillers.

Preparation
Steel
For optimum adhesion, Cicol NT Slurry is applied without
need of a primer. The steel shall be prepared by abrasive
blast cleaning to a minimum of Sa 2. An angular

consistency. The mixing cycle will take approximately 5-7

minutes.

Timber

Cicol NT Slurry is now ready for use.

The surface should be clean, dry and uncontaminated.

Hardwoods may require abrasion in order to obtain a good
mechanical key. Cicol NT Slurry is applied without the

Nitoprime 31DK is a solvent-free, 2-component primer.

Comp. A (base)

9.06 kg

Comp. B (hardener)

The mixed Cicol NT Slurry must be applied within the pot

life (30 minutes at +20C) of the material.
It is
recommended that 100 mm wide self adhesive tape is
applied at the edges of the area to be treated.
Pour the slurry onto the prepared surface. Apply in lanes
of approximately 2-3 metre widths. The slurry is spread
evenly over the area with a steel trowel or squeegee. Care
must be taken to ensure that where the material is applied
against existing Cicol NT Slurry, there is total contact, at a
similar thickness. It is essential that a wet film thickness
gauge be used to ensure an even thickness is achieved.

The entire contents of the hardener can (Comp. B) should

be poured into the base can (Comp. A) and the two
materials mixed thoroughly for at least one minute. The
use of a heavy- duty, slow-speed, flameproof or air driven
drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle is desirable.
When mixed, the primer should be applied immediately
with a stiff brush in a thin continuous film. Care should be
taken to avoid over application or puddles.

The Cicol NT Slurry is applied wet-on-wet, normally

before 1 hour at +20C.

The selected aggregate dressing, see Table 2, must be

applied immediately after application of the slurry. The
slurry has to be dressed until obliterated and no slurry is
visible. The dressing is applied by methods that will
ensure that it falls vertically down onto the slurry. If handthrown, there will be ridges created that cannot be
remedied later.

Mixing

Before the slurry cures, remove the adhesive border tape.

Cicol NT Slurry is supplied in pre-weighed units. Thorough

mixing is essential, using a forced action mixer of suitable
capacity (250 to 500 rpm). The following procedures
should be adopted.

Cicol NT Slurry will be allowed to cure for least 16 hours at

+20C before any heavy traffic is allowed on the surface.

Pot life for Nitoprime 31DK

: 25 minutes at +20C.

The period will be longer at lower curing temperatures.

After curing, the excess aggregate may be removed. If
dry, clean an uncontaminated, this excess aggregate may
be re-used in further applications of the system.

Mix both resin base (Comp. A) and hardener (Comp. B)

together until thoroughly blended. Add the filler slowly and
continuously whilst still mixing, until a homogeneous
