 Mother Teresa, born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was
an Albanian Roman Catholic nun.
 Mother Teresa won the Noble Peace Prize in 1979
for her humanitarian work.
 For over 40 years she ministered to the poor, sick,
orphaned, and dying in Calcutta, India.
 Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of
Charity.
 Mother Teresa received global recognition for her
charitable work. By 1996 she was operating 517
missions in more than 100 countries.

Mother Teresa was beautified by Pope


John Paul II on October 19, 2003.

She is one step away from canonization.
