Chayo Reyes is a retired Los Angeles Police Detective who was a founding
member of the Los Angeles FAST (Financial Abuse Specialist Team), the first in the
country. He is a nationally recognized instructor and consultant in elder abuse
investigations. 2015 marks 28 years of experience in addressing elder and
dependent adult abuse.
Also featuring Mary Ann Eickhoff, RN, PhD(c), KU Landon Center on Aging. She will
discuss attributes of elder abuse, including suspicious vs. non-suspicious wounds and bruising.
Training Description:
1. The objective of this presentation is to provide proactive training on how to: recognize,
prevent, report, secure victims assets, investigate, network with multiple agencies, and
profile complex cases involving dependent adult financial exploitation. We will also
address the vulnerable adults long term needs to prevent them from falling victim again.
2. Statutory update by Alex English, Kansas Legal Services, and Vanessa Riebli, Johnson
County District Attorney.
