    theissueoflegalizingmarijuanamakingitlegallyavailabletoadultsforthesakeofleisure.
    AccordingtotheDemocrats,thisformerillegaldrugnolongercarriestheriskitoncedid,as
    publicdiscussionovercongestedprisonfacilitiesandlawenforcementbudgetshavereframed
    theproblem.Lately,theissueofdrugslieattheverycenterofouryouthsattention,triggering
    controversy,concern,andevenexcitementwheneverbroughtup.Notjustanydrugs,butillegal
    drugs.Althoughmanysupportthelegalizationofmarijuana,somearedisapproving.Despitethe
    dominatingpositivesideeffects,therearestillopponentsarguingagainstthisissue.

    OpponentshaveorganizedanevententitledMarijuanaandOurYouth,atwohourlong
    sessionconsistingofpowerpointscriticizingthedrug.Theyreferredtoseveralissues,
    proclaimingprobablehazardssuchasaddictionandhealthdecline.Unfortunately,theywere
    shortinarrangingaunitedorganization,astheircampaignwasfundedwithamere$10,000.
    KevinSabet,apreeminentUSscholarandcombatantofdruglegalization,assertedthecaseof
    drugaddiction,ashetoldauthorities,"Whatweneedisamuchsmarterlawenforcement.

    Drugaddictionisnotwhatshouldbeconsideredthepredominantobstacle,seemingmorelike
    apatheticexcusethanalegitimatereason.Themediaexplicitlyportraysthehardcoredrugusers,
    revealingtothepublicwhatwewouldcallextreme,astothemajority,drugsarequitefrankly
    takeninsmalldosesforrecreationalpurposes.OntheauthorityoftheNationalInstituteonDrug
    Abuse,60%ofthenationsseniorsinhighschoolagreethatregularlytakingmarijuanaisnot
    harmful,asmostofthemdo.Opponentshaveclearlyfailedtoconsiderthesevaryingaspects.
    Justforthefactthattheyareyoung,doesitmeanthattheyarewrong?Aretheynotconsidered
    citizensoftheUS?Whatweneednowisnotasmarterlawenforcement,asSabetsuggested,
    whatwereallyneedisasmarterapproachtolegalization.

    Asidefromhelpingpeopletaketheirmindsoffthestressofyetanotherdemandingday,
    essentiallycuringtheirminds,thereisonemajoreffectthatpromotestheuseofdrugs:it
    unleashescreativity.Itsnocoincidencethattheworldsleadingartists,musicalperformers,and
    otheraccomplishedpeopletakebenefitfrompotandpsychedelics.Prominentfiguressuchas
    SteveJobs,JamesWatson,andJimiHendrixhavepubliclyconfessedtheirillegaldruguse.Even
    BillGates,aseeminglyprimandpropergenius,hasacknowledgedtohisdrugexperience.

    Asaresult,themajoritycontinuestosupportpotlegalizationintheUnitedStates.Gradually,
    morepeoplearebeginningtosupportthisnotion,makinganapparentjustificationthatdrug
    legalizationistheanswer.Thestatescitizenshavetheabsoluteresponsibilitytoshapetheir

    futureitultimatelydependsontheiropinionandhowtheydecidetoactuponit.Asthe
    legendaryWilliamShakespeareoncesaid,Itisnotinthestarstoholdourdestiny,butin
    ourselves.Itissolelyuptothestatesmenaswellasresidentvoterstotakecharge.
