Ed Tech Issue 1

I chose this website because it is all about what will be new in technology in 2014. So the
website is 7 Ed tech trends to watch in 2014 and how it is very important. I think it was a very
good article to see and it had a lot of great technology.
What is the importance of the issue to education? It talks about Digital Textbooks and how
important it is in education. It shows that it is in thirty-seven percent of schools. It has seven
great technologies and how important they are to us. Then there is the 3D printing is not in a lot
of places but it is in being used in other countries and will be in our schools soon. The United
States of America can use it in a lot of areas. Then the second is MOOCs which is a way to get
credits for collage and it is free too. Then the third one is about a thing called Big Data. It talks
about it predicts trends and patterns in school. Then the next one talks about Gamification and
how it is used in education. It is digital online games that help improve the students in all areas.
The survey says that fifty-five percent of teachers use games as their curriculum. It also talks
about sixty-three percent think that students are ready to work harder in games. The next thing is
called Flipped Classroom it is all about using traditional method by providing video lectures for
students to study at school or at home. It talks about the students can use a lot of platforms and
how you can use them at any time. Then the last one is Mobile learning it is the use of tablets,
smartphones, and other devices. They can use twitter for communication and other outlets like
Evernote, Dropbox, and Google Docs. Then use digital textbooks like iBooks Author, iTunes
and other areas. Now all these seven technologies are very important now in schools and the
only one that my school district doesnt use is the 3D printing. But my district is trying to get it
for next school year.
This new article shows the same things as the first article I put in and it then adds a lot of other
great things too. It talks about personalized lessons: Students learn in different ways.

Ed Tech Issue 2

Some soak up text like a sponge, while others best grasp a concept when they see it or get their
hands on it. Then it talks about Social lesson sharing: Classrooms can be isolating, but
educators don't have to teach in silos. Websites such as NROC Math and Share My Lesson allow
teachers to share lesson plans and best practices with peers not just in their district, but across the
country. This article is called Sheehy, K. (2013, December 23). Technology trends for teachers to
try in 2014. U.S. News. Retrieved from http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/high-schoolnotes/2013/12/23/technology-trends-for-teachers-to-try-in2014.
Then the next article I found is from Ashford University Library called NEW MEDIA

are good and they use these things in this article. They use blogs, Wiki and a lot of social media
things like utube.

I then found an article called Educational Technologists: Leading
