Society Meeting Dates
The issue of the A vondale Historical Journal and our
newsletter were late in being prepared, due to my
work commitments — and unfortunately couldn’t be
distributed until after our meeting on 4 April during
Easter Weekend. We had a good but much smaller
turnout of people at the meeting, who listened to Alan
Patterson relate his thoughts on war and violence in
global history from the 1700s.
My apologies to all those inconvenienced by the late
distribution.

Our roast lunch and movie outing,
9 April
This was a great success — around 35 people came
along to Ryders at Riversdale Road to enjoy the
screening of W ar Horse and the lovely meal afterward.
Well done, Alison Turner, for organising such a wonderful event. The general consensus amongst those
there on the day was that we should seriously consider
doing it again next year, so — watch this space.
Our thanks as well to our friends from Pt Chevalier
and Mt Roskill Historical Societies for joining us.

Here are the dates for our meetings for the next two
years:
2015—6 June, 1 August, 3 October, 5 December
2016—6 February, 2 April, 4 June, 6 August, 1 October and 3 December.
Our meetings are all at St Ninians, St Georges Road,
Saturday at 2pm.
