1.WelcometoSCTI201
Dear SCTI 201 Students,
This course is a five week, fully online executed course. This course is for students
who want to learn how to integrate technology into the second grade curriculum
standards. This course will be significant to anyone pursuing a career in Early
Childhood Education or for the integration of technology in education, with support
of South Carolina State Standards. Technological implementation will be required
throughout this course, to familiarize students with the current trend in
technological devices and programs.
Students in this class are required to use the online source of Moodle to complete
all online submissions including but not limited to discussion questions, quizzes, and
reflection projects. Students are encouraged to check their Coastal Carolina
University email daily, for imperative information pertaining to the course. It is
your responsibility to check for any upcoming announcements or general discussions
about this course and follow the tentative schedule.

Delivery
Thiscourseisdesignedtoengagestudentsinanunderstandingofthecurrentsecondgrade
curriculumstandards.Youmustcompleteeachmoduleinreferencetospecificsubjectareas.The
modulesaresetupassubjectareas,toanalyzetechnologicaluseindiversecurriculumstandards.
Eachmodulewillbeassessedonitsownandrequiresreadingfromthetextbookandadditional
attachedresources.Discussions,assessments,andprojectassignmentsforeachmodulewillbe
postedonMoodle.
Workload
Eachmodulerequiresabout24hoursworthofworktocomplete;chapterreadingsarenot
included.OnthecourseMoodlepage,therearecalendarssuppliedthatpacetheworkloadeach
week.Ifthisscheduledoesnotmeetyourindividualneeds,Iwouldrecommendsettingupa
schedulesimilartothisonetocompletetheworkinatimelymanner,astheworkloadwill
intensifyaswedigdeeperintothemodules.StudentsarerequiredtologontoMoodleandtheir
emailseveraltimesweekly,tostayabreastuponcurrentdiscussionsandchanges.Students
successratewilldependontheirownmotivation,studyhabits,anddedicationtolearningthe

Course Goals
Thefollowingcoursegoalsarticulatethegeneralobjectivesandpurposeofthiscourse.Students
will:

understandtheimportanceoftechnologicalintegrationintheclassroomtoenhance
individualizedandblendedlearning.
demonstrateanunderstandingofvariousapplicationsusingtheiPad,thatalignwith
SouthCarolinaSecondGradecurriculumstandards.

Course Outcomes
Aftercompletingthiscourse,studentswillbeableto:

supplement instruction for grade level appropriate phonics and fluency strategies using
the iPad.
supplement instruction for grade level appropriate Everyday Math and Descartes
standards for math instruction using the iPad.
supplement instruction for South Carolina State Standards in regards to the matter,
animal, weather, and magnet units using the iPad.

5.Grading
Gradingforeachofthemoduleassignmentswillbebaseduponapointsystem.Thepointswill
beaveragedattheendofthecourse.Scoresforeachassignmentwillbepostednolaterthan48
hoursaftertheduesubmissiondate.StudentsinthiscoursemustearnaCorhighertoapplythe
credithourstowardstheirEarlyChildhoodEducationorInstructionalTechnologyDegree.

quizonlineusingMoodle.Eachquizwillbeconsideredopenbook;youmayconsultallonline
