Students will be able to do the following I can statements:
I can use the Read, Write, and Gold software to help me while completing this assignment.
I can listen to a story about the pond habitat and talk with my partner using the discussion questions about the story.
I can watch a brain-pop video on fresh water habitats to get more information.
I can create a pond habitat using the brain pop website, print it out, and label things, such as, plant life and animals
belonging to the pond habitat.
I can write about my pond habitat using a forum.
I can search on the internet for more information about a pond animal and its habitat.
I can write or type using an internet search graphic organizer describing the pond animal and its habitat that I
researched.
I can write a script for my podcast using the internet graphic organizer and with a partner's help.
I can create a podcast describing an animal and its habitat.
I can present my podcast in front of the class and answer any questions that my fellow classmates might have about
the information that I collected about the pond animal.
However, the following skills will be taught in reference to locating and evaluating information doing an Internet
search:

Be exact- Use the words or phrase you hope to find
Be direct- Search for one focus at a time
Be distinct- Don't repeat your focus
Be succinct- Eliminate unnecessary words

Activate Prior Knowledge with KWL chart
A=Analyze Search Engine Results
Skimming and scanning techniques
Reading URLs, making inferences, and looking for highlighted terms and their meanings within surrounding
text
Move between their search results and webpages until the information they need is located
