E DITORIAL
Fasts of Shawwaalul-Mukarram
There is a Hadith which mentions the fasts of
Shawwaalul-Mukarram:

Translation: Hazrat Abu-Ayyoob Ansaari
Raziyallahu-anhu has reported that Hazrat
Rasoolullah Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam said:

Such a person, who observed fasts in the


Holy month of Ramazaan and then observes
six supererogatory (Nafl) fasts in the month
of Shawwaal, is like that person who observed
fasts for ever. (Saheeh-Muslim)
In the above-mentioned Hadith-e-Paak, Hazrat
Rasoolullah, The Mercy for both the worlds, Sallallahualaihi-wasallam, had stated the merits of the six
supererogatory (Nafl) fasts being observed in the
month of Shawwaal and persuaded his Ummah to
observe these fasts as such fasts hold great reward.
In the distribution of wages and rewards, Haqq Taala
Shaanhu has shown the great mercy by promising
that every good deed will be rewarded ten times.
When a person observes the thirty (30) fasts in the
Holy month of Ramazaan and then observes six (6)

more fasts in the month of Shawwaal, the total


number of fasts comes to thirty six (36). And by
multiplying 36 by 10, we get 360. As per the lunar
calendar, a year contains 360 days. Therefore,
observing 36 fasts will be counted as 360 fasts near
Allah Almighty, and in this way the reward for
observing fasts of full year will be granted.
If any person observes six supererogatory
(Nafl) fasts of Shawwaal with the fasts of the Holy
month of Ramazaan every year, then such a person
will be deemed to observing the fasts in the entire life.
Allahu-Akbar! What an unlimited mercy of Allah
Almighty is it that on a little hard work, an easy
method has been provided to gain the great reward
for observing fast during the whole life. May Haqq
Taala grant Tawfeeq to all of us. Aameen.
If the fasts of Ramazanul-Mubarak last 29
days, still it will be counted as 30 days as every
Muslim has intention of observing the fasts of 30 days
in the Holy month of Ramazaan. And in this way, 29
fasts of Ramazaanul-Mubarak and 6 fasts of
Shawwaal totalling 35 fasts will be granted the reward
for the fasts of a full year. Moreover, Hazoor-e-Aqdas
Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam had given this good news of

the great reward only on observing the fasts of


Ramazaanul-Mubarak and six fasts of Shawwaal, so
there is no need to ask such a question that if one
fast will decrease due to the sighting of the moon, will
the reward for a full year be granted or not.
Some people think that the said reward will be
granted only when the minimum fast of one day will
be observed necessarily next day to Eid, however, it
is not correct. If anyone did not start observing these
six fasts from the next day to Eid, and observed these
fasts in the month of Shawwaal anytime, he or she is
also entitled to this reward.
The fasts of Shawwal have a wide choice of
observance. One can observe these fasts from the
beginning of the month or from the middle of the
month or during the last days of the month. It is also
allowed to observe these six fasts either continuously
or separately. No restrictions on this count.
It is mandatory for such Muslim women, whose
husbands are present in their homes, to seek the
consent of their husbands to observe these six fasts.
Observing Nafl fasts without seeking the consent of
ones husband is prohibited by the Islamic Shariah.

Object of Ramazan

On a sweltering hot day your throat has become


parched. You are in the privacy of your home and the
refreshingly cool water is within hand's reach. You
desire to drink it, but you do not. Why? Simply because
you are fasting and while fasting you cannot eat and
drink. If somebody prompts you to nevertheless drink it
and says: "Nobody is watching," you will immediately
rebuke him with the words: "But Allah is watching!"

ALLAH TA'ALA IS WATCHING!


Subhan-Allah! Allah Ta'ala is watching. AllahuAkbar! Allah Ta'ala is All Hearing, All Knowing, He is
Omnipresent. He sees and knows when we cheat while
fasting, thus we resist all temptations of food, drink and
lawful conjugal relations from dawn to dusk. We have
learnt the lesson of Taqwa. We have learnt that lesson
which the fasting was meant to teach us. Allah Ta'ala is
watching! Yes, Allah Ta'ala is watching! Every time
there is an urge to eat or drink while fasting, the voice
from within cries out: "Allah Ta'ala is watching!" Dozens
of times daily for an entire month this reality is
reaffirmed. Allah Ta'ala is watching. So deeply is it
embedded in the heart that by the time Ramazan is
over, a person becomes conscious of Allah Ta'ala to

such an extent that he is now guided by an inner force


that propels him in the direction of righteousness and
turns him away from sin.

TAQWA
The fasts of Ramazan were prescribed for the
purpose and object of attaining Taqwa. This is clearly
declared in the Qur'an-al-Kareem. Taqwa simply is to
obey the commands of Allah Ta'ala and refrain from all
sin, the increased rewards for lbaadah (worship) in
Ramazan and all the blessings of this great month
should be considered as the bonus. The object is
Taqwa. If one performs an abundance of Salah,
completes the recitation of the Holy Qur'an thirty times
and engages in many other acts of lbaadah, but fails to
give up sins - one has failed to achieve the object and
purpose of Ramazan. One has failed to firmly embed
the reality of Taqwa in the heart, the Taqwa that cries
out "Allah is watching" whenever one contemplates
committing any transgression.

TEMPTATION
The dictates of Taqwa are not restricted to
abstaining
from
drinking,
gambling,
adultery,
transacting in interest and other such vices. Indeed
Taqwa demands that while abstaining from all the
above vices, one also observes Taqwa in one's
business. When the temptation to cheat the customer
beckons, or when one is tempted to buy stolen goods,

or to indulge in fraud, at that time also the heart should


cry out "Allah is watching" and it should restrain one
from the sin.

RIGHTS
Similarly, Taqwa demands the fulfillment of the
rights of the husband/wife, It also demands the joining
of family ties. It demands respect for the elders and
kindness for the young. Taqwa entails, among other
aspects, being honest and clear in all monetary
dealings and social interactions. Hence when there is a
wedding or funeral, or at the time of distributing the
inheritance of the deceased, the same level of Allah
consciousness must be displayed as was apparent
when refraining from drinking the cold water while
fasting.

PURDAH
Likewise, when the laws of purdah are violated,
does the heart cry out "Allah is watching"? Or when one
intends to watch something on TV., which will most
definitely involve one in zina of the eyes and ears, does
one hear the voice from within: "Allah is watching," as a
result of which one refrains from that sin? The same
pertains to the Sharee' aspects of appearance and
clothing. How often have we done things to appease
and please even the enemies of Allah Ta'ala and
Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)? How often
have we abandoned the dictates of Taqwa in order to

earn a few coppers? Now is the time to sincerely


repent. It is the time to say "Allah is watching" and to do
everything to please Him. It is a time to acquire Taqwa.

ABSTAIN FROM SIN


This then is the object of Ramazan. This will only
be achieved if we conduct ourselves in this great month
with Taqwa. Or else the object of Ramazan will be
defeated. Hence Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam) is reported to have said: "He who does not
forsake lying and other futile actions, Allah Ta'ala has
no need for him to give up his food and drink." Thus
together with fasting, performing Salah, reading the
Holy Qur'an, serving the cause of Deen, etc,, one must
totally abstain from every sin in the month of Ramazan
and adorn oneself with Taqwa. Insha-Allah this will then
carry one along for the rest of the eleven months to
abstain from all sins.
May Allah Ta'ala enable us to make this
Ramazan a month where we will truly attain Taqwa.

Eid
Discussing
Eid
before
Ramazan
even
commences may seem strange. Though this is indeed
unusual, such a discussion is extremely necessary if
one wishes to truly enjoy Eid in reality. The reality of Eid
can only be attained if one spent a true Ramazan.

While Eid is certainly meant to be a joyous occasion,


the true happiness of Eid should be understood in its
proper perspective. Consider the situation of a student
who has spent the entire year at an institution. At the
end of the year a celebration is held. He is wearing the
expensive new outfit that he bought especially for this
occasion. All varieties of treats have been prepared.
The happiness in the atmosphere is enchanting.
However, he has just received his results. The results
state that he has failed. What occasion will he
celebrate? What will he rejoice over? Eid should be
considered in a similar manner. The month of Ramazan
was especially given to the Ummah to acquire the
wealth of Taqwa (consciousness of Allah Ta'ala. Allah
Ta'ala declares:
"O you who Believe, verily fasting was
prescribed upon you just as it was ordained
upon those before you so that you may attain
Taqwa."

Taqwa entails the forsaking of every


disobedience of Allah Ta'ala. One who has spent his
Ramazan in various forms of ibaadah (worship) but has
not given up sin, has not attained Taqwa. What will he
celebrate? What will he rejoice over? The only
difference is that one's results of Ramazan are not
received "in black and white" in this world. However,
every person can, to some extent, judge for himself
whether he has passed or not.

REALITY OF EID
The reality of Eid is encapsulated in some
couplets attributed to Hazrat Shaikh Sayyid AbdulQaadir Jeelani Sahib (Rahmatullahi Alaihi). If the message
of these couplets is taken to heart, Insha-Allah one will
truly have an Eid in reality:

"Eid is not for the one who has worn new garments
Eid in reality is for the one who has gained safety
from the warnings (of punishment)"

The message expressed here is clear. The joy of


Eid is for the person who, by his obedience to Allah
Ta'ala, has gained safety from the warnings of
punishment that have been sounded in the Holy Qur'an
and the Ahaadith against those who engage in
disobedience. Adorning oneself with new garments
does not achieve anything. Indeed, adorning oneself
with the garments of Taqwa will gain the blessings of
both worlds. Hence, how tragic it is that people spend
hours, rather days, to get the "right" Eid outfit. In the
process numerous aspects that are against the dictates
of Taqwa are also perpetrated. This is besides the fact
that every moment of Ramazan wasted is like millions
lost. Therefore, one should not make new clothes a
fundamental necessity. It is Sunnah to wear the "best"
clothes that one owns on the day of Eid, not

necessarily something new.

"Eid is not for the one who rides a smart conveyance


Eid is for the one who has left out sins"

Driving a fancy car is no measure of success. The


person who has forsaken all sins has acquired Taqwa
the object of Ramazan. He is indeed successful and has
reason to rejoice and celebrate. Eid is for him.

"Eid is not for the one who is perfumed with Ood (itr)
Eid is for the one who repents and does not return to sin"

The one who has repented and remains


steadfast upon his repentance will pass on the Day of
Judgment. He will then enjoy perpetual Eid.

RAMAZAN SPECIALS
The day of Eid at the end of Ramazan will come
and go. In order to truly deserve celebrating on that
day, we must dedicate ourselves to acquiring the object
of Ramazan. We will have to spend our minutes of
Ramazan in a correct manner. If hours are spent
shopping for "Eid Specials" in Ramazan, while the
"Ramazan Specials" given by Allah Ta'ala in the form of
increased rewards is lost, it will indeed be very tragic.
Our Eid will then be a very superficial one.
May Allah Ta'ala grant us the ability to spend our
time correctly in Ramazan and grant us a true Eid. Aameen.

And you shall surely find them, of men, the


most avid for life even more than the
polytheists. Of them, one would love to be
aged a thousand years. But it will not remove
him from punishment to be so aged. And
Allah is watchful of what they do.

This verse shows the basic weakness of the


Jews which did not allow them to accept the challenge
proposed in verse 94, and thus exposes the hollowness
of their claim to the blessings of the other world being
reserved for them. The Holy Quran puts a special

emphasis on the fact that the Jews loved physical life


much more than did the Arab polytheists. Such an
inclination should not have been surprising on the part
of the latter, for, after all, they did not believe in the
other world, and physical life was the be-all and end-all
for them. But the Jews acknowledged the existence of
the other world, and even had the illusion that they
alone deserved its joys, and yet it was they who, above
all others, wished to live in this world as long as
possible. This very desire shows how baseless their
pretention was, and how they themselves knew that
they would have to face the fires of Hell in the other
world, and that physical life was, as long as it lasted, a
kind of protection against their final fate.

Say, whoever be an enemy to Jibrail (Gabriel)


it is he who has brought it down upon your
heart by the permission of Allah, confirming
what has been before it, and a guidance and
good tidings to the believers. Whoever be an
enemy to Allah, His angels, and His
messengers, and to Jibrail and Mikail, surely
Allah is enemy to the disbelievers.

The journey of a young child from the darkness of
Kufr to the light of Islam:
(Continue from the previous issue of A N-N O OR)

Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam then


narrated the entire story of Maa-bihi to his Sahabah
Raziyallahu Anhum. Maa-bihi then accepted Islam at the
hands of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
who gave him a Muslim name. Maa-bihi bin
Borzakhshan was then from known as the great and
prominent Sahabi by the name of Hazrat Salmaan
Farsi Raziyallahu Anhu.
A revolution had now taken place in the life of
Hazrat Salmaan Farsi Raziyallahu Anhu who desired to
be in the companionship of Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam day and night but was unable
to do so as he was bound by the yoke of slavery at
the hands of the Jew. As a result he was deprived of
participating in the battles of Badr and Uhud.
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was
aware of the difficulty of Hazrat Salmaan Farsi

Raziyallahu Anhu. One day he told him, O Salmaan!

Why do you not barter your freedom from your master


and free yourself from slavery.
This was exactly what Hazrat Salmaan
Raziyallahu Anhu had desired, so he went to his master
and asked him what was the price for his freedom.
The Jew asked for 40 uqiyah of gold and 300 date
palms! Upon hearing the Jews demands, Hazrat Nabi
Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam asked his companions
as to who was willing to free Hazrat Salmaan
Raziyallahu Anhu from the slavery of the oppressive
Jew. The Sahabah Raziyallahu Anhum responded with
great joy at the request of Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam each one bringing whatever he
could until they had collected 300 date palms. Then
all of them together with Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam began ploughing the land and sowing
the seeds of these date palms on the land of the Jew.
Now the condition of the 40 uqiyah only remained.
Allah Taala made arrangements for this to be fulfilled
in a short time. Not long after the required amount
came into the possession of the Muslims in the form
of maale-ghaneemat from a battle which the Muslims
had fought. Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
made over the amount to Hazrat Salmaan Farsi
Raziyallahu Anhu and told him to go and free himself.
Hazrat Salmaan Raziyallahu Anhu ran to the Jew with
the amount and freed himself throwing the yoke of
slavery to his head. From now on he perpetually
remained in the service of Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Bayaanul Qur' aan and Nabi-e- Kareem's


(Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) glad tidings
Someone saw Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu
alaihi wasallam) in a dream. He asked Hazrat Nabi-eKareem (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) for the commentary
of a certain Aayat. Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu
alaihi wasallam) replied, "Look in Bayaanul Qur-aan."
Bayaanul-Qur-aan is a commentary written by Hazrat
Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib (Rahmatullahi Alaihi).
The person wrote to Hazrat Maulana Thaanwi Sahib
(Rahmatullahi Alaihi) relating his dream. Hazrat replied:

That

Hazrat Maulana Thaanwi Sahib


(Rahmatullahi Alaihi) did not go to bed. He spent the whole
night reciting Durood Shareef.

The spirit of the Buzurgaan-e-Deen


Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib (Rahmatullahi
Alaihi) used to say, "Bhai, Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan
Sahib condemns us in anger. Perhaps this anger is
because he feels we are disrespectful to Hazrat Nabi-eKareem (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam). This feeling and
emotion is valuable in the sight of Allah Ta'ala. Perhaps
this can become a means of his salvation, though the
cause of his anger is not correct. (We are not
disrespectful to Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu alaihi
wasallam), but one must become angry with a person
who, in one's opinion, is disrespectful to Hazrat Nabi
Akram (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
Hazrat Thaanwi Sahib (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) considers this
to be a means of Maulvi Ahmad Raza Khan's salvation,
but the latter is not prepared to consider even great acts
of ibaadah as a means of salvation for others.

Other Incidents
There's a place called Bhiwandi close to Bombay.
Once, a debate was arranged in this area against
Maulana Irshaad Sahib, Muballigh of Madrasah DarulUloom Deoband. In the same year, I had left for Hijaz
(Makkah-Madinah). Coincidentally, some people from
Bhiwandi were also travelling to Hijaz. We travelled
together and had meals together.

Matters pertaining to Hadith


This point is not found in the hadeeth
Q:
It appears in the hadeeth: ]f ^] f ]] (When
the Imam says Allahu-Akbar then say Allahu-Akbar).
From this we understand that the Muqtadee (follower)
can continue reading the tasbeeh even after the
Imam says Allahu-Akbar. However, I have read that
according to Hazrat Imaam Abu-Hanifah (Rahmatullahialaihi), the Muqtadee cannot read the tasbeeh once the
Imam says the Alif of Allahu-Akbar.
A:
This point cannot be deduced from the working
of the hadeeth: When the Imam says Allahu-Akbar, the
Muqtadee should also say Allahu-Akbar. There is no
basis to wait for the Imam to say the Alif, or the kaaf or
the ain. This is a sickness amongst people.
The hadeeth in which ]f ^] f ]] (When the
Imam says Allahu-Akbar then say Allahu-Akbar)
appears, then in the very same hadeeth the following

words also appear: ]j ]] (when the Imam


reads then remain silent). This narration is recorded
in Saheeh Muslim, but it is very difficult to locate it.
After narrating this hadeeth, Imam Muslim was
asked whether ]j ]]

is authentic or not.

Imam Muslim Rahimahullah replied, It is authentic


according to me.
The student then asked him, Then why have
you not recorded it in your book Saheeh Muslim?
Imam Muslim Rahimahullah replied, I have not
laid down the condition of recording all those
ahadeeth that are authentic according to me. I have
only made the condition of narrating those ahadeeth
on whose authenticity there is consensus.
[Imam Muslim Rahimahullah said, Do you want someone
more reliable than Sulaiman? Abu Bakr replied, Then it
means that the Hadith of Hazrat Abu Hurairah Raziyallahu
Anhu: when the Imam reads remain silent is authentic.
Imam Muslim Rahimahullah said, It is authentic according to
me.
Abu Bakr then asked him, Then why did you not
record it in your book? Imam Muslim Rahimahullah
replied, I did not record everything that is authentic
according to me. Rather, I only record those ahadeeth
which the muhadditheen have agreed to their authenticity.

The gist of this dua is: Oh Allah forgive! All my
future and past sins, all those sins which I committed in
open and secret, and what I transgressed and what you
know better than me. You are the elevator and degrader
of status, there is no God besides you.
Besides this, there is another dua which Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite at the

It has been reported in another narration that
Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would teach
the Sahaabah this dua like how we would teach them
the Surahs of the Holy Quran. (Abu Dawud)
According to some Ulama, to recite this dua in
Namaaz is Waajib.

Second Etiquette
Refraining from evil
Every student should purify his Nafs of bad habits
and evil qualities. He should always protect himself from
speaking lies, backbiting, slander, stealing, unnecessary
speech etc. The reason being, that Ilm, is an intrinsic
ibaadah related to the heart.
Just as Salaah is an external Ibaadah and cannot
be correct without external purity, in the same way Ilm
(knowledge) which is an internal Ibaadah cannot be
attained without internal purity.
A Hadith narrated in Taleemul Mutaallim states
that Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, A
person who does not refrain from sins during his student
days, Allah Taala will involve him in one of three things.
Either he will die in his youth; or despite his capability and
academic achievements he will go to such places where
his knowledge will be destroyed and he will not be able to
spread his knowledge; or he will suffer disgrace in the
service of a king or some wealthy person.

If a student of Deen keeps away from sins, people


will benefit from his knowledge and the sources of Ilm
(knowledge) will open up for him.
Once a pious person advised a student saying,
Stay away from backbiting and dont ever mix with
students who engage in indecent and vile talk. That
person who engages in useless talk wastes away his time
as well as yours. To stay away from sinful people and to sit
in the company of the pious is also a type of Taqwa.
Hadhrat Shaqeeq Balkhi Rahimahullah said: There are
three things upon which if you do not practice, you will
never gain any benefit even though you may read eighty
trunks of books.

Do not have love for this world because it is not


the abode of a Muslim.
Do not befriend shaytaan because he is not the
friend of a Muslim.
Do not cause takleef (harm) to anyone
because this is not the occupation of a Muslim.
Maimoon bin Mehraan Rahimahullah used to say that
there is no benefit in obtaining Ilm or increasing it if it is not
coupled with fear (for Allah Taala) and obedience (to Allah
Taala).

but the Giver Allah Taala answered and mentioned it
second. Thus, we know the importance of purification.

mentioned first; teaching and learning can only be

one will not be able to achieve Ikhlaas or purity of


intention is ones work for Islam.

TWO WAYS O F TAZKIYA H


The first way:
One should acquaint oneself with a pious person
and try to follow what he teaches with all his heart. In
this way, he may rid himself of his sins and lead a pure,
clean life, and save himself for destruction.

Success is surely achieved by him who purifies himself.[Al-Ala 87:14]
His interest helped to purify him; he is therefore a
successful man.
The second way:
Having accepted Islam, one does not purify
himself in this world and dies a sinner. In this case,
Allah Taala, the Most Merciful and Ever Forgiving, has
a solution for this person.
In this world, if one does not look after ones health
and falls sick, he has to go to the dispensary or hospital to
get better. In the same way, if one does not go to the pious
people to seek purification, then Allah Taala sends such a
person to the Hospital of the Aakhirah. The dispensary is
the grave, and the Hospital is the Hellfire. There, this
person shall be purified.

CHILDREN IN ISLAM

Etiquette of greeting
The Noble Quran commands that we greet
one another (Surah Noor, 24:27 and 61). It is
regarded as the best deed in Islam (Bukharii and
Muslim). Entry into Jannah is subject to possessing
imaan (faith), mutual affection and the exchange of
salutation (Muslim). It is Sunnah to say the Salaam
and Waajib to reply a Salaam. The first to greet
should say: Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa
barakatuhu. (Peace be upon you and the mercy and
blessings of Allah Taala). It would suffice if a person
says only Assalamu Alaikim (Peace be upon you),
this earns one a reward worth ten pious deeds; but
adding Wa Rahmatullah (And the mercy of Allah
Taala) will attain the reward equal to twenty pious
deeds. If Wa Barakatuhu (And His blessings) is
added one will be entitled to a reward that equals

thirty pious deeds (Abu Dawood and Tirmizi). It is


incumbent upon a rider to greet one who is walking
on foot. A pedestrian will greet one who is seated and
those who are fewer in number will greet the large
party (Bukhari and Muslim). The younger will greet
the elder (Bukhari) say the Salaam audibly for it is
incorrect to merely gesture with the hands in the
manner of Christians or Jews (Tirmizi). A Murabbi
must

set

an

example

to

children

by

taking

precedence when greeting. This is the Islamic


procedure. When a non-Muslim says the Salaam, the
reply should be Wa alaykum only, and one must not
take the initiative to say the Salaam (Bukharii and
Muslim). The Muslim, who precedes others in
greetings, is the closest to Allah Taala, the Exalted
(Tirmizi). It is improper to make Salaam to a person
who is performing Wuzu (ablution) or Ghusl (taking a
bath) or is in the toilet, eating, reciting the Holy
Quran, eulogizing Allah Taala, reciting the talbiyah,
delivering a khutbah or lecture, teaching or calling out
the Azaan or Iqaamah.
It is not Waajib (incumbent) for one engaged in
any of these activities to respond if greeted by any
unwary person.

(63). Hazrat Harith Ibn Muslim (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) It
has been reported that Hazrat Ibn Mulim (Rahmatullahi
Alaihi) said: One day in the life of Hazrat Imam Abu
Hanifah Mulim (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) better that the entire
lives of some of our Ulama because the Ilm Hazrat Abu
Hanifah Mulim (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) is for the general
benefits of the entire population whereas people did not
attain much benefit from the Ilm of the other Ulama.
(64). Hazrat Harun Ibn Mughirah (Rahmatullahi Alaihi)
Hazrat Harun Ibn Mughirah (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) is
reported to have said: I heard from the people of the
past that during the era of Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah
(Rahmatullahi Alaihi), they searched for his equal but to no
avail.

Aimmah, we havent come across any Imam portraying


such respect to the affairs of the Muslims as Hazrat
Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahmatullahi Alaihi).

(66). Hazrat Hazim Mujtahid (Rahmatullahi Alaihi)


Hazrat Hazim Mujtahid (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) says: I
had a discussion with Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah
(Rahmatullahi Alaihi) on asceticism, devotions, faith, trust in
Allah Taala, and analogy. Allahu Akbar! He explained
each and every item individually and explained
everything to me separately. If found him to be very
learned on all these aspects of Ilm. He turned out to be
the Imam of the jurists, ascetics, devotees, faithful and
the leader of the men of tawakkul (trust in Allah Taala)
and the men of Ijtihaad (inference). He was perfectly
competent in all these sciences.
The statements of the Aimmah of Deen in
praises and virtues of Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah
(Rahmatullahi Alaihi)

are much more than the statements

mentioned above. The aforementioned statements are


more than enough for a fair-minded person in pursuit of
the truth. These statements can shift one from evil
thoughts and verbal abuse towards favourable thoughts
and righteousness. He can be well content with these
statements but nevertheless other aspects of his life will
still be mentioned in the forthcoming chapters.

Womens passion for Deen


Once, a few women presented themselves
before Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
and pleaded: O Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam The
men get the opportunity to learn deen directly from
you. They sit in your blessed company, ask
questions, and perform their salaah behind you, etc.,
while these opportunities are not provided to us. O
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam! Please make the
necessary arrangements for us to acquire deen
directly from you as well. Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was extremely pleased with
this request and instructed them to gather at a certain
persons house and imparted deen to them.
We understand from this incident that such
requests presented by women are laudable and we
should endeavour to sincerely fulfil them. During the
era of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
the Hazraate Sahaabah Raziyallahu Anhum acquired
deen directly from Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam. The womenfolk educated themselves by
directing their questions to the pure and noble wives

of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam who


would then refer the matter to Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam if they did not know the
correct answer.
It was the customary practice of the previous
eras that the father would teach his daughters, a
brother would teach his sister and a husband would
teach his wife. This practice is still prevalent in a few
areas, where the learned women teach the young
girls of the locality. But, unfortunately, generally this
system has been annihilated by the custom of
sending young girls to school even after they have
reached the age of maturity.

Educating our children


Nurturing and upbringing of children requires
that they be taught the basics of deen, respect for
parents and elders, etc., and not that they be sent to
schools where the observance of purdah is
nonexistent, where the free-thinking mentality is
rampant, where irreligiousness is part and parcel of
the curriculum, where vile and despicable habits are
nurtured, where truth is distorted and lies concocted,
and where a host of other harms exist. It is incumbent
that we make the correct arrangements to ensure that
our children and especially the womenfolk study
at home.
Schools are dens of vices, especially for girls.
When the proper arrangements are made for them,

they will then fulfil their responsibilities towards their


parents and husbands, and live in this world with
honour and respect by protecting their chastity. They
will also progress monumentally in deen, and their
offsprings will be pious and religious as well.
The need for educating our children starts at
the very inception of their lives, from the time of birth.
It is recorded in the hadeeth that when any child was
born, it was bathed, cleaned and presented before
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam who
would recite the azaan and iqaamah in the ears and
then perform tahneek. Tahneek entailed placing a
khajoor (date) in the childs mouth after it had been
softened and moistened in the mubaarak mouth of
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, so that
the blessed saliva of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam and the sweet khajoor were the first
and foremost parts to enter the mouth. This practice
ensured that the child would be imbued with a sweet
tongue and a jovial temperament. This was the
general practice of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam.
When the child learnt to speak, the child was
taught:

laa ilaaha illallahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu
lahul mulku wa lahul hamd and thereafter, as the
child grew older, the child was taught the necessary
aspects of deen. Children easily memorise what they

hear uttered in their presence. Hence, if the parents


read istighfaar, the kalimah, Durood Shareef, etc.
regularly, the child will automatically memorise them
as well, but if the child is accustomed to hearing
vulgar and obscene words, then such words will be
embedded in the childs mind and abandoning such
language, when the child becomes older, will become
extremely difficult.

Rahmatullahi

Alaihi

Hazrat Moulana Yahya Rahmatullahi Alaihi, a


saint of contemporary times, was taught a quarter
sipara of the Quraan by the time he was weaned.
This remarkable achievement was the result of
listening and learning the Quraan at the hands of the
young girls who looked after him. Instead of reciting
fairy tales and stories of some fictitious characters,
they would teach the Quraan to him and, by the age
of seven, Moulana had memorised the entire Quraan
Shareef. Thereafter, it was his daily practice to recite
the entire Quraan Shareef before partaking of his
meals.
Moulana would commence his recitation at Fajr
and complete it at the time of Zuhr, and this practice
continued for six months. The result of this was that
the Quraan became entrenched in Moulanas heart
to such an extent that the need subsequently never
arose for him to look into a Quraan.

It is imperative that we begin the training of


children in their formative years so that on the Day of
Qiyaamah, they will not lay a claim of negligence
against us, in the court of Allah Ta`ala, and say: O
Allah! Our parents had the utmost concern for our
daily needs. They fed us, clothed us and, if we were
sick, they made the necessary arrangements for our
treatment. They perpetually strove to keep us happy
but, O Allah! They did not teach us deen. O Allah!
Ask them why?
The parents will be taken to task for neglecting
to fulfil this fundamental duty. Children are a trust and
a favour from Allah Ta`ala. It is binding upon us to
uphold this trust and appreciate this favour, and the
manner of accomplishing this is inculcating good
character and pious actions in them.
In some areas, children are taught salaah by
their mothers, elder sisters, aunts, grannies, etc., and
the training is of such a nature that until they do not
complete their salaah, they will not get their meals.
Subsequently, when the women of the house transfer
the importance of salaah to the children, they will
develop a great enthusiasm for it and the importance
of it will be embedded in their hearts.

Harms of incorrect education


But, if they are sent to school, there is a
tendency to drift away from deen and ultimately their

beliefs, character, morals and actions become corrupt


and they become averse to the laws of Allah Ta`ala
and the noble sunnat of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam. Those children who are raised under
the correct supervision of their parents, are imbued
with the correct understanding of deen, good
character and polite speech.
I was once addressing a group of women at a
certain venue. The man of the house approached me
and said: My wife wishes to pose a question to you
on condition that I must not be present.
I declared: You have the option of staying or
leaving, but a few other males will remain with me.
He agreed to this request and his wife,
speaking from behind a
curtain, began her
questioning. She commenced by pointing out that she
had forwarded this question to various other ulama,
but received no satisfactory answer.
I believe, she started, that whatever is
contained in the Quraan is correct, but it is my
opinion that it was not directly revealed from Allah
Ta`ala, but compiled by Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam and thereafter he, Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, declared that it was from
Allah Ta`ala merely to pacify the people.
Where did this drivel emanate? These types of
thoughts and lopsided reasoning are the fruits of
English secular education. The teachers in the

secular schools are devoid of any understanding of


deen and, combined with the secular school
curriculum, the child is influenced to reason along
these lines that the Quraan is not the divine word of
Allah Ta`ala, etc. Now, what is to be expected of the
state of ones Imaan? One of the fundamental beliefs
of Islam is to unequivocally believe that the Quraan
was revealed by Allah Ta`ala and is the source of
guidance for all.
Tell me, I asked. Have you read the seerat
(biography) of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam?
Yes, she instinctively replied. I have read it in
Urdu and English.
Then tell me, I pointed out. Did you come
across in the seerat that two distinguishing qualities
of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam were
his honesty and truthfulness?
Yes, she admitted. I have come across this
many a times.
Then your question has been answered!
How? I do not understand, she said, puzzled.
I then explained: To claim that something was
revealed by Allah Ta`ala, but in reality was not, is
dishonesty and an honest person will not make such
a claim. An honest person will never hide that which
was revealed to him no matter how beneficial or

detrimental it may prove to be to the general people.


If an honest son quotes his father, he will not attribute
anything to his father that he thinks will benefit the
listener without pointing out that he has added this
statement from his own side.
Similarly, to suggest that Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam had declared that the
Quraan was revealed by Allah Ta`ala, merely to
pacify the people, is ludicrous because such an
audacious claim will eventually be exposed. Your
reasoning belittles the intellect of Hazrat Nabi Akram
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam because it concludes that
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam did not
consider the possibility that people will eventually
realise that the Quraan was indeed not revealed by
Allah Ta`ala and the years of toiling and striving he
had undertaken, to spread the message, will be
rendered useless. Na`oozubillah! Not considering the
final outcome of ones actions depicts ones level of
intelligence, and intelligent people generally think
about the end result of their words and actions.
Now I understand, she said.
This woman had acquired English secular
education! The point that I wish to draw your attention
to is that if we are going to dispatch our daughters to
secular schools, they will be indoctrinated with
negative sentiments and ideologies about Islam.
They will deny the revelation of the Quraan, the

prophethood of Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi


Wasallam and the existence of the malaaikah. They
will opine that salaah, sajdah, ruku and other
ibaadaat are dogmatic actions and they will not
observe purdah, but dress immodestly, shamefully
exposing their bodies. What will be the outcome of
this? Utter ruination in this world and the hereafter!
A huge sum of money is spent on their tertiary
education and, during their years of study, the
parents spend lavishly on them to maintain their
happiness. After they graduate, some find a job while
others do not. And sometimes those who have a job
cannot maintain their standard of living which they
were accustomed to during their stay at the
university, because the salary that they are earning is
less than what used to be spent on them.

Freedom and gender equality


Another evil quality that college educated girls
develop is the concept of freedom from being
dominated and that everyone is created equal.
Hence, when they marry they are unprepared to live
under the yoke of their husbands. They will have an
equal say in every affair of their married lives. How
will it ever be possible for them to obey their
husbands? It will be virtually impossible and, Allah
Ta`ala protect us, if the husband is also irreligious,
the spouses will lead their own separate and free

lives.
Conversely, if the husband is religiously
inclined, that home will become a mini Jahannum due
to the incompatibility of the spouses. When a child is
learning to speak, Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam has instructed us that the first thing we
should teach the child is the kalimah and, as he
grows older, the different aspects of deen need to be
imparted to him. If the correct and proper deeni
education is taught to the child then, Insha-Allah, the
child will be saved from odious and corrupted
ideologies; but if the child is reared in an incorrect
environment, where no importance is attached to
concepts such as purdah, good character, salaah,
ecitation of the Quraan, fasting, etc., then the child
will be easily influenced by the negative sentiments
and profane reasoning prevailing in todays society to
such an extent that the child will even deny the
existence of Allah Ta`ala!
We have frequently met youth who deny the
existence of Allah Ta`ala; and met fathers who
complain that their sons are denying the existence of
Allah Ta`ala.
Thanks be to Allah Ta`ala? the son asks
sardonically. There is no such thing. If He does exist
then show me His whereabouts.
This lamentable state is the direct result of their
incorrect upbringing. It is binding upon the parents to

fulfil the fundamental needs of their children; and of


those needs, the primary need is their deeni
education. Daily, a time should be set aside for
teaching deen to them. If the parents do not
discharge this responsibility, then the child will grow
up to be a disobedient and disrespectful child and
flagrantly trample upon the parents rights. This is
the era of freedom and equality, he will say
indignantly. Parents and children are equal. Our
parents are our peers. They do not command any
authority over us!
Correct rearing and nurturing of children is a
great responsibility placed upon the parents.

The first madrasah


The first madrasah of the child is the mothers
lap. This is the initial stage of his education. The child
will imitate the subconscious actions of the mother.
Hence, if she utters Alhamdulillah upon sneezing,
the child will learn that one should say Alhamdulillah
after sneezing and, if she replies Yarhamukallah in
reply to one who says Alhamdulillah after sneezing,
the child will learn that as well. If the child observes
the parents making salaam to one another, he will
also become accustomed to making salaam to
whomever he meets.The character displayed by the
mother will be established in the child. If she utters

in every affair of life, the child will also be accustomed


to speaking with a free tongue and not keeping a
vigilant check on what he/she says.
Ironically, some parents become proud when
their child uses vulgar language. This is not an aspect
to be boastful of, but rather something to wail over.
Children automatically inculcate the actions
of their parents. They will imitate the actions of their
seniors and, once these actions become habitual, it is
extremely difficult for them to discard them.
Therefore, the responsibility of the mother in nurturing
the children is far greater.
If the child falls seriously ill Allah Ta`ala
protect us and the doctor prescribes a strict diet,
then the entire household will adopt this diet to
ensure that the child follows it. Otherwise, he will be
admitted to a hospital where the prescribed diet can
be followed. The parents invariably spend endless
sleepless nights worrying and caring for the child, and
even relatives and neighbours sympathise with the
parents in their predicament and offer their
assistance in caring for the child.
All this sympathy and concern is for a physical
sickness; but if the child perpetually uses vulgar
languages or perpetually tells lies, then there is a
general apathy or unconcern at this behaviour,
implying that we do not consider these to be incorrect
or sinful actions, whereas they are in direct conflict

with the injunctions of the Quraan and hadeeth! Why


do we display such a hypocritical attitude in these
affairs? Why do we have such a brazen indifference
to these sicknesses? Our children will become good
citizens and true assets to our community only if we
rear and nurture them in the correct manner.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair Raziyallahu Anhu
accompanied his father for all the battles that he
fought in. Hazrat Zubair Raziyallahu Anhu used to
make Hazrat Abdullah Raziyallahu Anhu sit behind him
on the horse and Hazrat Abdullah Raziyallahu Anhu
used to cling on to his fathers waist for support. The
reason that Hazrat Zubair Raziyallahu Anhu took his
son for jihad was that he desired to expel the fear of
jihad from his sons heart. The result of this was that
Hazrat Abdullah Raziyallahu Anhu became noted for
his extraordinary courage and valour on the
battlefield. He feared absolutely nothing. This
remarkable achievement came about because of the
training and guidance he had received from an early
childhood. That was the era of jihad being fought with
horses, swords, and arrows. Hence, the children
were taught to master the skills of that era. In the
modern era, our childrens training will be to take
them to the musjid.
Once, I was invited to a certain place and my
host had a three or four year-old son. When the time
for salaah had arrived, I told the boy, Come! Let us
go to the musjid. He immediately took hold of my

finger and accompanied me to the musjid.


What is your opinion of this child? another
friend of mine queried. He seems to be an obedient
child, I remarked. He came with us to the musjid.
Once, explained my friend, this childs
grandfather was teaching and advising him in some
matter when the child indignantly replied, Stop
talking and be silent! You are bothering me.
Surprisingly I asked, Did he really say that?
My friend nodded in the affirmative.
I investigated this matter and found out that
actually, these were the precise words that the very
same grandfather had uttered to the boys
grandmother when she had advised him on a certain
matter. Accordingly, the child responded in a manner
that he understood to be correct.
Therefore, it is of paramount importance that
we restrain ourselves and speak respectfully in the
presence of children.

The effects of us nurturing our children


correctly
Our pious predecessors nurtured their children
with good habits, excellent character and good
etiquettes, which also produced a positive effect on
the child. Once, Hazrat Abdullah bin Umars
Raziyallahu Anhu grandson was seated next to him

when a visitor came to meet him and posed the


following question: What is the penalty for killing a
mosquito?
Who are you and where did you come from?
Hazrat Abdullah Raziyallahu Anhu had lost his vision in
both eyes at that time. The visitor introduced himself
and revealed that he was from Iraq. Hazrat Abdullah
Raziyallahu Anhu told him: You do not ask about the
penalty for killing Hazrat Nabi Akrams Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam grandson in the plains of Karbala, but you
query about the penalty for killing a mosquito? The
visitor became infuriated and glared at Hazrat
Abdullah Raziyallahu Anhu.
Hazrat Abdullahs Raziyallahu Anhu grandson
upon witnessing this commented to his grandfather:

They are staring at you with bloodshot eyes like how
a disgraced inferior person will glare at his superior.

The grandson graphically captured the scene


to his grandfather. This was the level of intelligence
and discernment of children who were reared with the
correct understanding of deen.
When Mahmood Ghaznawy came to India, he
took a Hindu youngster and raised him in a princely
manner. He taught him the royal etiquettes, the
manner of addressing people, the way of conducting
oneself in the royal court, etc. When this was
accomplished, Hazrat Ghaznawy crowned him as the

royal prince. At this point, the youngster began


crying. When questioned in this regard, he said: My
mother had always instilled the fear of Mahmood in
my heart. The cruelty of Mahmood was continuously
bandied around, such, that the children used to
tremble at the very mention of his name. If only my
mother was still alive, then I would have told her that
Mahmood was not evil, but a kind person and he has
raised me in a manner that they would not have been
able to accomplish. This is why I am crying.
Our pious predecessors imparted deen to their
children practically. The children observed the
manner in which they were leading their lives and
learnt the correct etiquettes in every facet of life; the
sunnat manner of eating (washing our hands before
commencing to eat, reciting Bismillah before eating,
eating with the right hand, drinking with the right hand
in three sips, eating small morsels of food, reciting
Alhamdulillah during the meals and after drinking,
etc.), the sunnat manner of wearing our clothes and
the masnoon du`aas to be recited on various
occasions. In short, every feature of their lives was
led according to the teachings of Islam. This is the
very essence of rearing children and, if they are
reared in this manner, then they will become the flagbearers of deen and a source of guidance for all.
In contrast, if they are reared incorrectly, they
will become a source of grief and sorrow for their
parents. Numerous parents have complained to us

about the insensitivity and downright arrogance


displayed by their children. Their attitude and
mannerisms are abhorrent. They do not desire to
even talk to their parents, so much so that, if the
father enters the home, the child leaves the house in
order to avoid his company. If the child is raised
correctly, then he/she will respect and honour his/her
parents and consider them to be a boon from Allah
Ta`ala. Incorrect upbringing of children will result in
our detriment in this world and in the hereafter.
A certain youngster whose father is my friend,
developed the habit of stealing and pilfering. When
he was caught and imprisoned, his father announced
that his son had passed away in order to protect his
honour.
Once, I asked a person whether he had
attended to his childrens education.
What can I do? he wailed. They have
developed such bad habits that I am even prepared
to pay 100 000 rupees to someone just to take them
away from my sight.
This is the lamentable plight of todays children.
These very children, who were supposed to be the
comfort of our eyes, have become the source of our
grief and sorrow and, if we analyse this situation
objectively, we will realise that the fault invariably lies
at our feet. If they were brought up in the correct
deeni environment, they will naturally respect and
honour their parents and the parents as well will be

compassionate towards them. Life will be pleasant


and trouble-free for everyone concerned.
But alas! We have not heeded the warnings of
our pious elders and our homes have been
transformed into hellfire! When the parents and the
children have enmity for each other, the resultant
condition is the utter destruction of the family structure.
The father expels the son from the home and instructs
every family member to sever ties with him.
But the mother, because of her natural undying
love for her child, secretly arranges for the son to visit
them when the father is not around. Thus, the entire
family structure is in tatters because of the incorrect
upbringing of the children.
If a warrant of arrest is issued Allah Ta`ala
forbid! and the child is thereafter incarcerated, how
concerned do we not become over this childs plight?
Every family member, relative, neighbour and friend
will endeavour to seek the childs release from
imprisonment. But when this very same child
develops evil habits, then why is it that no one even
blinks an eyelid at his actions?
Whereas the term of imprisonment for this
crime is the fire of Jahannum! Our primary concern
should be to save our children from the fire of
Jahannum and, to achieve this, we need to
communicate with them and advise them with
compassion and wisdom. It is reported in a hadeeth
that when the child reaches the age of adolescence,

he or she should be treated like a smaller brother or


sister. They should not be berated publicly or even
within the confines of the home and, when the child
reaches a marriageable age, then the parents must
make the arrangements for their marriage.
Thereafter, they should address him saying: O
my child! Whatever rights you have over us, we have
fulfilled it to the best of our ability. Now you are
married. May Allah Ta`ala save us from the fitnah
which may emanate from you.
With regard to the relationship between
siblings, the hadeeth explicitly states that the elder
brother enjoys the status of the father. These
concepts have to be instilled in the lives of our
children. If the correct Islamic ethos is not inculcated
in our children, it will result in the destruction and
disgrace of the family honour which existed for
decades and, resultantly, the parents become
ashamed of presenting themselves in society
because of their childrens actions.
A person does not unnecessarily amputate a
troublesome or infected limb. Similarly, the father
cannot excommunicate his son or daughter, but how
does he interact with his child in a humane manner?
How does he exercise patience with these conflicting
conditions? All these types of problems are the direct
result of incorrect education and nurturing. May Allah
Ta`ala grant us all the taufeeq to bring up our children
correctly. Aameen.

Ulama-e-Deoband are really the Great
Dear Editor,

I am a regular reader of your esteemed monthly


journal, AN-NOOR, being published from the deemed
Islamic University of Jammu & Kashmir state, that is,
Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora Kashmir.
I am reading all its articles and features, besides its
editorials with keen interest. One of the regular articles of
AN-NOOR titled: The Deoband Ulama and their Love for
Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam), which I read
again and again, reveals how much better scholars are
Ulama-e-Deoband in every aspect of Islamic perspective,
and how much they are holding dear the Holy Prophet
(Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam).
This regular article also reveals their great depth of
knowledge, abstinence from innovations and their love for
Sunnats and Mustahabbaat. It informs us the great
services of Ulama-e-Deoband they had rendered and are
rendering to every branch of Islamic sciences and to
every section and quarter of the Muslim community. The
present day Muslim community of the Islamic world
desperately needs Ulama-e-Deoband like men of Allah as
they have been bestowed real vision and leadership by
Allah Almighty for tackling many challenges of the
contemporary times.
The great advantage of this regular article on
Ulama-e-Deoband, being carried by your esteemed
journal, is that the new generation of the Muslim
community will know that their well-wishers, genuine
scholars, affectionate mentors are only Ulama-e-Deoband
who are also really the Great.

Annual ceremony of
Anjuman-e-Bazm-e-Mahmood

The annual ceremony of Anjuman-e-Bazm-eMahmood, an association of the students of the Arabic


Department of Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora, was
held on 9 Rajabul-Murajjab 1436 AH corresponding to 29
April 2015 Wednesday after Zuhr-Salaah on the upper
floor of Masjid-Shareef of Raheemiyyah Campus
Bandipora. The ceremony was presided over by the
Esteemed Rector of the Raheemiyyah varsity Bandipora,
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Rahmatullah Sahib DaamatBarakatuhum. 43 Raheemi students delivered excellent
speeches in Urdu, Gojri, Kashmiri and Sheena languages.
Besides the recitation of Hamd-Baari & Naat (poems in
praise of Allah Almighty and poems in praise of the most
revered Prophet Sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam), the annual
report of Anjuman was read out to the audience. The
respected students benefitted the audience by presenting
their valuable papers with enthusiasm on Tawheed,
Risaalat, Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, sincere services and great
contributions of Ulama & Awliyaa, especially the great
scholars of Darul-Uloom Deoband.

In the same manner, the annual ceremony of


Annadwah-aladabiyyah, Arabic Anjuman of the

students of Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora,


was held on 10 Rajabul-Murajjab 1436 AH
corresponding to 30 April 2015 Thursday at 9:30 AM.
The ceremony was presided over by the Esteemed
Rector of the Raheemiyyah varsity, Hazrat Maulana
Muhammad Rahmatullah Sahib Daamat-Fuyoozuhum on
the upper floor of Masjid-Shareef of the Raheemiyyah
Campus. Students delivered 37 speeches in Arabic.
Besides the recitation of 7 Arabic poems
(Anaasheed), a welcome address, annual report of
the Anjuman and the words of gratitude were
presented on this occasion. Three discussions and
papers in Arabic were presented to the audience and
a poetry-competition under the title of Almusaajalahash-shariyyah also took place there in which 31
Raheemi-students participated. It was purely an
Arabic and literary program. After Maghrib-Salaah,
the respected teachers of the Raheemiyyah varsity
honoured the audience with their comments and
advices. The students, who bagged different
positions in both the ceremonies, were given
handsome prizes on the spot. And all other students,
who participated in both the ceremonies, were also
encouraged with the prizes. At last, this annual event
was concluded with the comments, encouraging
remarks and supplications: Duaa of the Esteemed
Rector of this varsity, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad
Rahmatullah Sahib Qasmi Daamat-Barakatuhum.

Such an aspirant who will seek admission in the
first standard of Arabic must have the ability of 9th pass in
contemporary education. He has also to take the
examination of all such books which he had read in the
previous Arabic classes.
3.
For getting the admission in Tajweed & Qirat (Hafs
Urdu), an aspirant should have memorized the Holy
Quran completely with a good command on reading and
writing Urdu.
4.
The aspirants seeking admission in Tajweed &
Qirat (Sabah & Asharah) should have ability of 5th
standard of Arabic.
5.
Special class for Takmeel-e-Uloom: Due to decline
in the present time, some Madrasah graduates have

weakness in some basic subjects, and they feel such


weakness immediately after the completion of their
graduations. For such graduates, a course contains Saraf
&Nahv, Adab and important information about the false
sects is being offered here.
6.
Special class for Takmeel-e-Hifz. Such Huffaaz-eKiraam who have forgotten the memorized Holy Quran or
who are feeling weakness in reciting it due to passing off
long time or due to incomplete memorization, should sit in
this class, and this class will be the standard of
Takmeelaat.
7.
The attendance of already enrolled students at
Raheemiyyah in all the departments of Arabic, Iftaa,
Tajweed & Qirat will be marked from 10 ShawwaalulMukarram 1436 AH corresponding to 27 July 2015
Monday. And the regular classes will start from, InshaAllahu Taala, from 12 Shawwaalul-Mukarram 1436 AH
corresponding to 29 July 2015 Wednesday.
8.
Attending the classes of Hifz & Naazirah from 27
Shabaanul-Muazzam 1436 AH corresponding to 15 June
2015 is compulsory for already enrolled students of these
classes so that the admission process will be completed
on the same day and the class work will also start side by
side.
9.
An aspirant should come here only with the
intention of learning Deen, and not for any mundane
purpose.
10.
The style and mode of attire of an aspirant should
be in tune with the prescribed limits of Islamic Shariah.

At the time of admission, the company of a
guardian or any responsible person with the aspirant is

mandatory.
12.
Such small children, who are not able to hold their
trunks and necessary things in their custody, will not be
allowed to stay at the hostel of this Madrasah. The
minimum age which is mandatory for staying at the hostel
here has been fixed at 13 years.

In view of the prevailing circumstances, carrying

A Golden Opportunity
For the Muslim Community
A library is being considered the brain of an
institution. The well-informed persons are conversant with
the fact that there are nearly 30,000 (thirty thousand)
books on Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh, Literature, Seerah,
History, Biography, Tasawwuf, Saraf & Nahv (grammar),
Fasaahat & Balaaghat (eloquence & rhetoric), Tajweed &
Qirat (orthoepy), Medical and on Law, written in different
languages viz. Arabic, Urdu, Persian, English, Hindi, etc.
in the library of Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora
Kashmir.
Now to maintain these books properly, provide a
study hall, put in place the suitable arrangement for
research scholars, construct a spacious auditorium for
holding seminars and academic discussions, and to equip
the library with state-of-the-art equipments viz. Computers
and Internet, Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora has
drawn a design of three-storey building that will come up
soon at its campus Bandipora Kashmir Insha-AllahuTaala.
The construction work was going on,while in the
meantime, the huge flood struck the Kashmir valley in
September 2014, hence the suspension of the
construction work. And Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah, its
staff members and its other concerned persons engaged
themselves in providing relief to the flood-hit victims. Now
the construction work of the library is being re-started.
Therefore, such men and women of the Muslim
community whom Allah Almighty provided shelter and
protection during the disastrous flood of September 2014,
should take part in this noble and blessed cause to
establish Sadqah-e-Jaariyah for their parents, relatives,
nearest and dearest and to take this golden opportunity as
soon as possible.
