IV. PROCEDURE
1. Compute and record the following parameters for VDB commonemitter circuit shown in Figure 1. Assume ac = DC = 100.

Note: This part is the same with experiment on common-collector.

VB = ___________
VC = ___________
Zin = ___________

VE = ___________
ZO = ___________
AV = ___________

2. Set up the circuit of Figure 1. Measure and record the following

parameters.
VB = ___________
VC = ___________
Zin = ___________

VE = ___________
ZO = ___________
AV = ___________

3. Draw the output waveform at the load (RL = 10k).

4. Remove RL and replace it by circuit shown in Figure 2. Power on the

circuit followed by turning the signal on (2kHz, 1V pp). Observe the
sound. Do you hear a sound.

5. Compute and record the following parameters of common-drain JFET
amplifier shown in Figure 3. The common-drain JFET is used as a source
followe. Assume VGS = -2V and gm = 3mS.
VG = ___________
VS = ___________
VD = ___________
Zin = ___________
ZO = ___________
AV = ___________

FIGURE 3: Amplifier Consisting of CE and CD

6. Set up the circuit of Figure 3. Measure and record pertinent
parameters. Note also necessary steps in measuring DC biases and
signal parameters. To make it a correct reading, review Essential
Steps in Measuring Parameters in Appendix C.
VG = ___________
VS = ___________
VD = ___________
VO = ___________
AV = ___________
Zin = ___________
ZO = ___________
*Note: The voltage output (and hence Av) will be smaller a little bit as
compared to voltage output of the CE amplifier due to Z O of the JFET
amplifier.

7. Observe and draw the output waveform of the common-drain JFET

amplifier. Draw it in the same figure in Step 3.

8. Remove the load (RL = 10k) of the circuit in Figure 3. Connect the
audio transformer and speaker as you have done in Step 4. Hear and
observe the sound. Do you hear the same output as what you heard in
Step 4?

9. Define source follower circuit as illustrated by common-drain JFET
amplifier.
10.

Turn off signal then the power.
