PDCA or Deming Cycle

Any work in any area can be performed successfully by applying PDCA cycle. PDCA stands for
PLAN, DO, CHECK & ACT.
P - Plan

- Start of any work requires planning. Two things are to be planned.

1. Objective A clear objective of work must be defined.
2. Procedure A procedure to achieve the objective must be defined.

D - Do

- Implement the procedure (Do the work).

C - Check - Measure, evaluate & Check the results against the objective.
A - Act

- Now there may be two situations, act accordingly :

1. Objective achieved If objective set in planning stage is achieved, continually
improve it.
2. Objective not achieved If objective set in planning stage is not achieved, review
the planning stage. Either objective or procedure to be
suitably modified.
After this stage PDCA cycle is again implemented.
