The Soul Scrappers Weekly

Vol. 1, Issue 1, March 1, 2010 It’s our 1st newsletter! I’m so excited to see the Soul Scrappers community growing so quickly! I realized that it was high time for a weekly newsletter to keep you all up to date with what’s happening on the site from week to week. As time goes on, I’m sure this newsletter will evolve. Please let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see in it, or even on the site. We’re always welcome to suggestions and new ideas. YOU make this community what it is! Challenge Forum:
The Soul Team is always coming up with fresh challenges to inspire and motivate you to get those precious photos and memories into albums. We’ve just switched to a 2 week deadline for all of our challenges to give you more time to play and we hope that you’ll check out what we have to offer you. You can view all the current challenges by going to the Challenge Forum. There’s also special challenges loaded from time to time to get you thinking outside the box and to encourage you to network with other scrappers. Come play with us! It’s so much more fun to scrap with others! Pg. 1

Great New Features added to the Challenge Forum:
I’ve added a new feature to the tool bar! If you hover your mouse of the Challenge tab in the main tool bar (right under the site banner at the top of every page), you'll see a drop down menu that you can click on. You’ll be able to click on the following: Challenge Calendar, Previous Challenges and Challenge Winners We love that so many of you are playing along with our challenges! Did you know that you can now keep up with the Challenge Calendar? You can see what and when new challenges will be posted, as well as who will be hosting them. You can access the calendar here: Challenge Calendar Are you looking for a challenge that was in the challenge forum but can't find it now? Once a challenge is over, we don't delete them. We like to keep them in the forum so that people can continue to be inspired and motivated to try new things, even after the challenge has closed. If you can't find what you're looking for in the main Challenge Forum, it's most likely been moved to the Previous Challenges Forum. Wondering who won the challenges? Want to congratulate the winners? Soul Team member Shazza keeps tabs of all the winners and lists them in the Challenge Winners Forum.

Grand Prize Winner:
Each month, I will be taking all the challenge winners and drawing a Grand Prize Winner at random. The January/February winner (from here on out, it will be a monthly winner) is Tammy Fite! She submitted this page for the DC1 Digital Challenge. Tammy wins a copy of the Stampbooking 101 Tutorial CD. Make sure to check out the Gallery for more inspiration!

Soul Scrappers User Guidelines:
Just a quick “housekeeping” note. If you’re wondering what the guidelines are for the community, you can check them out here: Soul Scrappers User Guidelines Pg. 2

Tutorials & Videos:
Our Tutorial and Video sections are already being filled with amazing work by our members and also by our Soul Team members. If you’re looking for some cool techniques to use on your pages (or even on non-scrapbook items), you’ll be amazed at the variety of resources already available in these sections. Check them out here: Tutorials and Videos

Current Swaps & Projects:
Even in just the short amount of time that Soul Scrappers has gone live, we’ve had some fantastic swaps and projects started. Check out the Photo Swap….there’s still room for more participants. Want to try something different? This swap will have you and a partner each working on each other’s photos! Project 12 just started and this is a wonderful way to chronicle a year in your life. By the end of the year, you’ll have a scrapbook that shows the day to day parts of your life. What a great legacy to leave to those to come after you.

Classroom News:
The Big Shot die cutting machine can be used for so much more than paper. There's a whole world of textiles out there that can be put through your Big Shot (and other brands of die cutting machines). If you've been looking for a new way to use your Big Shot, this Tutorial CD is a great introduction to using felt for fast and easy projects that are great for beginners, but also a nice change of pace for those that are familiar with working with textiles and hand stitching. The class may be over, but you can still get this course as a Tutorial CD. Click here to purchase yours: Be a Big Shot with Felt Tutorial CD Pg. 3
