There are several things worth mentioning about November's sales numbers. First of all, as has been the case for several months now, price points below $200,000 are the most active points in the market. At the same time, areas that tend to cater to those price points such as West Asheville and some parts of East Asheville are the most active. Conversely, price points and areas catering to higher price points are very slow. The chart just above this commentary shows areas where inventory is building. Look for great deals in these areas through the winter and into the early Spring. Eighty-six percent of the sold inventory in November were homes under $400,000. Historically in Asheville winter is a slow time for viewing homes and therefore homes tend to sit on the market longer. Because of this, winter is generally a great time to find a good deal on a new home. Owners with homes on the market through the winter are really in need of a buyer.
