Notes from Pastor Bill

Yesterday we learned that Jesus spoke in cryptic language. He gave a message to anonymous disciples, spoke about
an anonymous man and an anonymous homeowner. Why was Jesus so cryptic? Judas, had betrayed Him on Tuesday evening.
The conspirators had met on Tuesday evening to determine how to kill Jesus. Jesus was being As wise as serpents and as
harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). This Sunday we will look at the betrayal.
Wednesdays are all new. Last week we had people on every floor of the church. There is a Bible Study for everyone! I
encourage you to join us on Wednesdays. Sunday was a great day. Our sanctuary was 75% full! Of course we probably
wouldve been almost completely full if we had all the children in the service. We are desperately in need of workers in our
childrens church area and nursery. For health reasons we have several of our regulars who simply cannot work. Would
you be able to give 1 hour once a month to help train Champions for Christ? Please contact Kim or Gary.
Jon Casteel will be in our service this Sunday. Jon has been leading worship on Wednesday evenings. He is interested
in being our new worship leader. Please pray for Gods wisdom in this matter.
September is the month that we asked for Deacon Nominations. If you would like to nominate a man to be a deacon
please fill out one of the forms on the information table in the sanctuary.
Do you or does someone you know need to hear a first-hand story of miraculous intervention? On Sunday September 13th Lejla will be in our church. She is from Bosnia and God supernaturally kept her from committing suicide and
then provided her with a shoebox that was used to lead her to Christ. It is a miracle that Lejla is in our church. She is no longer
traveling and sharing her story for Samaritans Purse. She is a full-time mother and wife living in Pennsylvania. Her coming and
sharing is a miracle of God. She is coming because God desires someone to hear her story. That someone may be you. That
someone may be your neighbor, relative or work associate. I encourage you to invite, invite, invite and pray, pray, pray.
The movie War Room is playing at local theaters. I would strongly encourage you to go and watch the movie.
Then, why not become a Saturday Prayer for Sunday Power.
The church office will be closed Monday, Sept. 7 th for will Labor Day. There will be a Vision Team meeting
September 16th at 7:30 PM in the conference room. The Vision Team is made up of individuals interested in helping us look
forward and developing our property to match our vision of becoming an Acts 1:8, 2:42 church. If you would like to be a part
of this team I would encourage you to be at the meeting September 16.
The Council of 70 is for individuals over the age of 70 who would like to help the church staff and the
administrators as we think through issues involving our church. You have years of wisdom and experience that we need. Like
Daniel who undoubtedly provided wisdom for the exiles who would return to Jerusalem you can provide wisdom for those
making decisions in the church. If you would like to be a member of the Council of 70 please send an email to the church.
If you have not stopped by the new rose garden in our prayer garden you must go see it. We now have 14 rose
bushes. If you would like to plant a rose in the memory or honor of someone please contact Gerri.
If you did not notice the new Samaritans Purse picture hanging over the table in the sanctuary make sure you look
next time you are at the church. Thank Jean Hutton for painting such a beautiful picture and thank Eddie Crosswhite for
framing it. This will be a constant reminder of our goal to reach 611 shoeboxes this year.
This year our goal is Pray It Up and Pay It Down. Our Pay it Down goal is to have our mortgage at $200,000 by
the end of this year. 100% of what you give to the 98 cent campaign goes to the mortgage. Pray that someone will purchase
the 4 cemetery plots given to the church. This money will go directly to the mortgage. We are asking for our church to be
covered in prayer from 8 AM Saturday morning until 9 PM Sunday morning. If you would pray during one of those hours
please contact the church office.

501 CREW UPDATE

TOBYMAC December 12th I have 26 tickets reserved for his concert in Johnson City. If you want to go
I will need $28.50 PER Ticket to hold your spot. I am opening up to youth, friends of youth, and youth workers
first.
The youth are going to start our own puppet ministry here at the church. If you are middle or high
school and would be interested in working with puppets please email me.
Beginning September 13th, we will be preparing our Middle and High School students to become
Christian leaders in their schools. This will be once a month during the school year. Each night we will have guest
speakers and/or video presentations discussing the book by John Maxwell "Leading from the Lockers" and
other fun activities. We will also do a 10-15 minute break out session into small groups. This would be a great
time to get your child involved in youth and maybe their friends as well! Whether they are in sports, band, drama,
or just a student looking to become a leader for Christ, this is a great opportunity.
Our guest speakers on Sunday September 13th will be Megan Frazee Leuzinger and Courtney Stone.
Both of these Ladies played for Liberty University. Megan has played in the WNBA and will be leaving in October
to continue her professional career. Courtney is from this area ad has coached at the high school level.

Sunday Night Youth will resume Sept. 13th. Please make a note of the new time,
5:00-6:30!
